Alan arvostuksesta kertoo varsin suoraan se miten alan ammattityöväestö
suhtautuu tekemiseensä. Siitä voidaan ottaa esimerkkejä laajasti.
Ammattilaiset haluavat usein myös jälkikasvustaan työnsä jatkajia.
Yritysmaailma on pullollaan työstä ylpeitä isältä pojalle siirrettyä
sukuosaamista.
erota uraania hiilimustasta taatusti.

Rupesin todella ihmettelemään miksi. Ja ennenkaikkea KETKÄ ovat maassamme
nykyään ydinalan ammattilaisia? Heitä on maassamme tietysti tuhansittain,
mutta keitä? Heille on yhteinen piirre se, ettei näillä ole esim.
perustuslakiemme mukaista lakko-oikeutta, kellään! Toinen keskeinen piirre
on niinikää lainvastaiset ylipitkät jopa 12h työvuorot ja loputtomat
ylityöjaksot vailla omaa päätäntäoikeutta. Kolmas ominaisuus on tekemänsä
työn arkaluontoisuus, mikä tarkoittaa orjallista vaitiololupauspakotetta
uhkailu-ukaaseineen ydinjohdolta. Esim. OL-1,OL-2 ja OL-3 työmailla ei
KETÄÄN saa mennä vapaasti jututtamaan tekemisistään ja määräys on ehdoton,
vaikka maamme pitäisi olla demokratia. Mikä kertoo myös alan valonarkuudesta
ja hämäryydestä enemmän kuin paljon.

Niinikää ydintyöläisten palkkataso on enmemmän kuin romahtanut loistonsa
päivistä. Jos lasketaan Suomen ydintyöläisten ansiotasot saadaan tyytyä jopa
7 euron tuntipalkkoihin!

Säteilyvaaransa takia heillä on
normaalityöläisiä ankarammat
lääkärintarkastusvaateet jne. Ydintyöläiselle on kauhistus , jos lapsensa
tulisivat samaan työhön jatkajiksi.Voi vaan hämmästellä kuinka nopeasti
ydinalan mega-arvostus on romahtanut nykyiseen mitäänsanomattomuuteensa.
heijastellen sitä pettymystä mitä ydinvoiman loisteliaitten lupausten
romahdettua tshernobyliin on tuottanut. Voi vaan arvailla, että kuinkan näin
totaalisen pettymyksen ala saa enää jatkossa KETÄÄN kiinostumaan sen
ylläpidosta?

Semiconductor memory may be infinite, but my time is not. Neither is my
personal memory for that matter. I would much rather remember Melanie in
a good mood than some spam from a creature I'm not likely to meet soon.

Around here the weather is "smokey". What that means is that all the
woods seem to be burning, and it's stinking up the atmosphere. That's
one of the things that happens in a drought.

IMHO, the only way to ever eliminate spam would be to eliminate the
down side of human nature. Think that will ever happen?

I've had one experience with a lightning set grass fire in my life,
about a 1/2 mile from the house here. I reported it, they came out
and were hosing it down. I told them I live right over there and
since there was no obvious source of ignition they kinda began to look
at me a little suspiciously.

Didn't Sagan and associates determine that the fires set all over the
Earth from Human Folly III would do more harm than the blast of the
bombs themselves?

OK. I tried to go back and see what you've said about Melanie before
and I can't find anything too definite. So, this is a pretty
prominent subject with you - I did find back in March you had said

That line made me want to hear that old song by Dr Hook and the Medicine
Show that went "I ain't making no excuses for the many things I uses
just to sweeten my relationships and brighten up my day, but when my
earthy race is over and I'm headed for the clover I'll just have to say
'I was stoned and I missed it. I was stoned and I missed it.'"
Unfortunately, that song isn't on the ones I have, so instead they
are singing the yodel song.

I wonder how many bands and songs there are altogether?

God, remember Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show's name, but never heard
that song or remember much at all about them. Could go to Wiki and
study up on them. But there's so many things to do. It's like Future
Shock - you go into a store for bread, there's 100 different brands,
so you go home without bread in frustration. Computers are good with
that dilemma, however, by just picking one at pure random.

If I went to the store for bread I would come home with something edible

Aha, so the strategy is getting refined to picking the cheapest
organic one.

Here, at the H. E. Butt stores (the biggie guys), you can get run of
the mill wheat bread for like 87 cents/loaf. Anything better is a lot
higher.

Dude! You must have some hidden subsidy unavailable to me. That loaf of
organic whole wheat & honey bread sets me back $4.50 at the farmers market.

Fresh corn showed up for the first time this year last weekend, two ears

This is not organic, though, and it's the HEB brand, and it's not
whole wheat but regular wheat, but for someone who's not too picky,
say a poor family, it's a deal.

I gotta remember to see what the cheap bread down at Safeway costs. We
need to compare apples with apples here. Some breads I gotta have four
slices of to feel full. The one I get at the farmers market isn't like
that. Two slices is plenty. I feel full until lunch time on them.

Yes, definitely. Even here at the H. E. Butt supermarket prices go
from the 87 cent non-whole wheat wheat bread to 2, 3, 4 dollar a smack
fancy-schmansy organic breads.

I would guess that the supermarkets in CA are very isomorphic to those
in TX.

It means if your name is the "The Beatles", and you have people like
John Lennon and Paul McCarthy writing your songs anything sounds good.
Especially if your uncredited backup musicians are people like Eric
Clapton.

I was wondering, how important a part of the global brain are the Beatles?

So you can play these songs you paid for even though you don't have
either the receipt or the player? What a concept...

How do you go about transferring them? I'd think that takes some special
doo-hicky that most VCRs don't have.

That seems to be what I do for the most part. There are several CDs I

After my last record player bit the dust and I decided not to try and
keep one going, I went through and bought like 20 CD's to replace the
most desired LP's. It remained that way for along time until Napster
came along and my brother-in-law was into that and I made a list of
like 30 songs which I wanted which weren't on the CD's but were on the
LP's and he got those. So that's pretty much where it stood. I have
bought a few more CD's, but I've never gotten into downloading songs
at a buck apiece or whatever it is. I guess I just never hear
anything worth bothering with. We have some good FM stations here
which if listened to have a good variety.

My BIL said he didn't consider Napster to be stealing, all he was
doing was getting clean versions of songs to replace old scratched up
ones.

iTunes has a free song or three every week. I usually download the free
ones. Most of them are forgettable, but every now and then I find a gem.
Rarely do I hear songs I get that way on the radio.

I dunno. Green Day has a song titled "Good Riddance". I downloaded it
for free. It's been my official "test sound" ever since. I still like
the song. It's so good that I'll put off turning off the radio until

Dude! Free music! I would say download this weeks just so you know the
technology works right. Actually, this week it wasn't so good, but who
knows about next week? Middle of the week I download the latest. Takes
an hour or so on dialup, but why not?

Yeah. Back in '98 I was helping this Democrat run for Congress. She
didn't get it about the whole "breaking the law" on the internet thing.
I downloaded that song while she watched and then played it for her.
reminding her several times during the experience that we were breaking
the law. She found it all very interesting. I was glad the band was "Green".

Hi, Joe.

Hope you're enjoying your day off.

Many years ago you played a short movie at your house called
"Sandcastles" , I believe. It was that one where creatures evolved
out of the sand spontaneously and played with each other and were
finally destroyed by a sandstorm. I remember what you said at the end:
"This is what we were meant to do - to play until we die."

I'm getting more and more of a sense that that's literally true right
now, especially with the advent of the web, making "playing" so much
easier. We play and play until we die. And it's not all fun play -
like in the book "Games People Play", some of the "play" involves
serious, grim interactions.

So you're right. We've achieved it. We're all playing.

I'm finding that if I cant get to it that I'm at a bit at a loss for
something to do, and that's a bit scary. Also, it seems to me that if
you get crosswise with someone on th web , that's it - it's a
permanent situation. People stereotype you, they don't believe
anybody can ever change. So you see rivalries lock-in forever , and
go round and round, an endless loop. But then, there's never been
anything like this out there. Every day is breaking new territory.

Tax dollars at work: The US Navy used about $5 million to remove 67
million gallons of groundwater from Moffett Field, from which almost
23.7 pounds of volitile organic compoutnds (VOCs) were cleaned. It is
estimated that there are still about five pounds of VOCs in the plume.

Does that mean you are drowning? Is it really hitting you hard?

Just being facetious that it's hardly doing anything up here at
Victoria. Then again, it's just a category 2 and quite some distance
away.

Ah. I knew that Texas was big. The above is further proof of that.

An Alaskan was bragging on how big his state is. A Texan said "Well,
we have a pretty big state, too." The Alaskan said " Be quiet or
we'll cut Alaska in two and make Texas the 3rd largest state." Old
joke, yes, I know.

I never saw it before. I did read somewhere that the Texas Constitution
has a clause that says it can be divided into four States if that's what
you (meaning Texas) want.

There is usually someone out there saying California should be chopped
up, but nobody knows how to make it happen.

I've heardr that, but I've also heard that it can no longer be done,
so who knows.?

Well, doesn't one just have to wait awhile and plate techtonics will
do the job, the old "CA will fall off into the ocean someday"? Not
that we'd want that. N E more than anyone would want TX split in 4.

Well, maybe give her the url of this note and it might give her a
subtle hint that such behavior is an issue and is inappropriate.
