Oh Lord, is it a hairpiece?

I'm new to this newsgroup. One post alluded to Jack Lord's hairpieces.
I've always suspected he wore a rug (albeit one of high quality, as
opposed to those dead squirrels worn by contempories like Shatner and
Burt Reynolds).

Has it been confirmed that Lord wore a hairpiece that was responsible
for that oh-so-perfect coiffure with the purposefully drooping few
strands in the front? Any pictures available of him without it?

This information about Jack Lord's (possible?) hairpiece really has taken
me by surprise. I usually think I am pretty good at spotting abnormal
hair! I have watched Hawaii Five 0 during its original run and now I am
having a lot of fun with the reruns on the Family channel. It never
occurred to me that his hair was anything but HIS. I guess part of the
reason was that there was so much of it! In fact, just the other night as
I was watching, I got this mental picture of a 70ish year old Jack Lord
with a huge shock of white hair! Now as I watch, I find myself constantly
looking at his hair all the time to see if I can detect anything out of the
ordinary and ignoring other aspects of the show.

This is an interesting newsgroup - a little warped, of course, to have
such interest in a 25 year old show. I am the only one in my family who
will watch the reruns. My husband and kids think I'm nuts. Of course,
when I force one of them to watch one of the shows for a few minutes, it is
always one of the really bad corny ones and they are more convinced than
ever that I have a problem.

This question came up in this newsgroup last year, and folks asked the
stars of Five-O about it at last year's Five-O convention (for details of
the convention, see Mike Quigley's web page). Apparently the hairpiece
thing is just a rumor, because at the convention it was stated that
Jack's hair was all real and all his own.

And, a makeup person followed him around with a can of hairspray at all
times!

From all I've been told, his crowning glory was and is all his.

Who the devil cares, anyway? I'm more concerned with what's inside than
with what's on top, for crying out loud.
