It's tequila night here so if this is really far fetched you'll have to
forgive me...

I have a crazy idea about what the OotP is. The Order si a small group
of very talented wizards with a rare gift, the ability to funnel powers
and combine them with other wizards of the order to create one "Super
Power". Each wizard of the Order also has a particular speciality that
contributes to the group and makes the whole stronger. McGonagall has
the transfiguration skill, Dumbledore, invisibilty, and Snape, well I
don't know what Snape does, controls reptiles or some crap..

And they have these cool rings that they put together to activate these
powers...;)

(okay, the last part was silly I only thought of that as I typed the
first part, but you get the idea about the OofP, and no, I haven't been
watching any Power Rangers... Okay, I was serious when I started this
post but now it seems funny as hell, I'll post it anyway.)

Harry learned quickly not to feel too sorry for the gnomes. He
decided just to drop the first one he caught over the hedge, but the
gnome, sensing weakness, sank its razor-sharp teeth into Harry's finger
and he had a hard job shaking it off - until -
"Wow, Harry - that must've been fifty feet...."

Thought you had said you wouldn't post anymore when you had been drinking?

Why would he control reptiles? He is a Potions Master, therefore I would
assume his speciality would be brewing Potions.... perhaps.... ? Just a
thought as that is what he does and is extremely good at doing according to
Lupin in book 3 ;-)

Yikes! Did I? I must have been drunk when I said it, because I have no
recollection...

When I typed it, I just couldn't envision any use for mixing potions during a
fight. But now that you mention it, it might come in very useful! I have no
idea about the reptiles, maybe I just kept thinking about the COS scene where he
confidently made the snake disappear during the duel club meet...

Honestly, my idea was serious until I typed it out...

Isn't that the truth? As soon as I sober up, everyone seems to have lost their
sense of humor!

OK I'm sober at least as far as alcohol is involved anyway :-) Are you
saying that the OotP is comprised of lensmen? E.E (Doc) Smith's books

Yes but think of the opportunities for Potions which could be sprayed on or
thrown at invading Wizards which would do nasty things to them. Or Potions
to heal the Wizards on Dumbledore's side and get them back out fighting
again quickly. I would think a Potions Master would be very busy during a
battle even if he was not out there flinging curses/hexes about.

I wasn't but I think DM may have been, I was trying to say that OotP wasn't
anything to do with superheroes :-)
