They don't tend to interact much with the muggle community.

Read "Quidditch Through The Ages". Basically, they're very careful and go
to great lengths to hide the pitches.

If you read the book carefully, you'll see that Harry notices that Quirrel
is wearing a turban for the first time at the sorting feast.

I'd wager that they don't have a TV... at least a working one. And why would
they know about it? I imagine the weasley don't hang out with Muggle kids too
much, 'else they'd know more about 'em.

Magical stadiums and fields.

Voldemort probably wasn't attached to him yet. Quirrel said that he only started
sticking with him after he failed to get the stone in Gringotts.
NO.
He's not raised by muggles.

Explained at length in GoF and QTTA (but not adequately, or we the fans
would
have noticed).

Quirrell has no turban either. See?

2. You'll read more about that in the fourth book, I won't ruin it for you.
3. Great point! I have absolutely no idea!
I'm not sure if AOL's newsreader supports it ( I'd be surprised if it
didn't.)but, please try to quote the previous post when you reply. I have no
idea what this was about!

But his dad *does* work in the "Misuse of Muggle Artifacts" office and
collects various Muggle paraphenalia (as revealed near the start of
Book 2), so you would think such a "Muggle-loving" family would know
*something* about these things...

As have others in the this thread, I recommend _Quidditch Through the
Ages_, which is one of the two short paperback "schoolbooks" put out by
"Comic Relief", which Rowling wrote under pseudonyms.

He wasn't -- Note that Quirrell isn't wearing the turban yet. (This is
something the movie got wrong.)

No, they didn't get it wrong. They changed it. If you'll notice, in the movie
Quirrell will not shake hands with Harry in the Leaky Cauldron.
It's been speculated here that they did this so that Quirrell would be easier
to identify later on. With the huge purple turban, he's hard to miss. I know
when I read the book, I totally missed the fact that Harry had met Quirrell
before the school year. (I mean, come on, when you are first starting out in
the books, "Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor" doesn't mean much to you
yet!)

When will Book 5 be out?
For the answer to this and many other questions,
consult the FAQ at http://www.geocities.com/hpnewsgroup/faqfdq.htm
In the book, Quirrel doesn't don his turban until the sorting feast, and so
hasn't been gotten to by Voldemorte.
In the film, Quirrel very obviously tries to avoid touching Harry at any
time, especially at the Leaky Cauldron when they first meet.

Hi Vincent, welcome to the group. Excellent questions...
.. er that's it. I think some one else knows the answeres
but I'd like to thank you for your excellent questions nontheless.

Ron doesn't really live in the muggle world. He's from a wizarding family and
spends all of his free time in the wizarding world so things that would be
common to muggles and people who live with muggles (like Harry) or were born
into a family of muggles would be totally alien to him.
<< 2)How is there quidditch teams in England, etc without any muggles ever

Mostly enchantments and such.
<< 3)How come Harry doesnt burn Quirrel when he first shakes his hand in
>the Leaky Cauldron? >>
In the movie he doesn't touch him. In the book I can't remember if he does or
not but I believe we are told that Quirrel didn't have Voldemort with him at
the time. That happens later and it's Voldemort (or whoever he's inhabiting)
who can't touch Harry.
Hope this helps.
Take care.

One thing that I do find fascinating is Quidditch, the sport of Harry Potter,
the sport of wizards. It seems just about the greatest sport ever invented,
better even than NASCAR. ~Joe Posnanski

He is _not_ socializing with Muggles or consuming Muggle media. So how
should he learn? Imaging living in an foreign cuntry and only meeting
ppl of your own 'nationality'.

Carefully. ;)

a) He is not want to attack him, so there is no need fr the spell to
kick in.
b) Is the tuban mentioned there?

Then why doesn't Quirrell get burned when he chokes Harry?
Ah ha! So WebTVers /can/ post in plain text! And they're not all illiterate
losers, either. Right. Next time I see a splatter of HTML idiot-speak I
shall Have Something To Say, as you have proved that it is possible to post
sensibly from one of these infernal machines.
Thanks.

The movie goes on the assumption that it is Harry's *hands* that are what
Quirrell can't touch. Therefore, he avoids shaking hands with him and doesn't
get burned until Harry puts his palms on him.
In the book, Quirrel has already been captured by Voldemort but Voldemort
is not riding in Quirrel's body, and Quirrel is not yet wearing the turban
in the Leaky Cauldron scene. Later, in the opening feast scene, Quirrel
is wearing the turban and has Voldemort riding in his head; then when
Voldemort looks through the turban at Harry, Harry feels the pain.
In the movie, they had Quirrel possessed by Voldemort right from the
beginning, so Quirrel didn't shake hands with Harry in the Leaky Cauldron.
