This was about 55 years before Harry's time. If he was a young guy when
he started there (or inherited the job from an ancestor), then he could
easily still be alive; even Muggles can live long enough.

I think it is the same wizard. But the life span is not that much. If he
just got the job or place when tom was 11 that only put's it around 65
years ago. And that means a man of around 81 could just about do it. By
the bar mans description I think he has a few years more then that. In
fact I think he was most likely a little older then DD. But that is just
my guess.

Wizards clearly live longer than muggles. It would not surprise me if Tom
and Dumbledore are close in age.
it would surprise me seeing as Dumbledore taught Tom when Tom was at
Hogwarts. unless by 'close in age' you mean give or take 80 years.
