Can anyone tell me who played Doris Crockford in the Leaky Cauldron scene of
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone? My girlfriend thinks it was
Geraldine Chaplin (Charlie Chaplin's daughter), but I can't find the
character in the credits.

Very unusual for someone who had a spoken line in a movie not to be listed in
the movie credits or at IMDB. I have been wondering if this character would
appear in later books since she was mentioned several times in that scene in PS.
Rather like JKR wanted us to remember the name.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard that it was JK Rowling in an
uncredited cameo.

It's in the second movie. When Harry steps out of the store onto Knockturn
Alley, a witch ( Rowling) is walking by and turns to smile at him. A second
later we see another witch approach him, dressed liked the first witch that
passed him, and if you don't watch carefully, it appears that there was only
one single witch in the Alley with Harry.

Actually, not that unusual. While IMDB has got a lot of good info, it is
well known to not be perfect not always 100% up to date. Even I, merely
a casual user of IMDB, have submitted changes for things that I knew
were wrong.

Several times? I don't remember more than one... Wasn't she Lockhart's
fan? or Stubby Boardman's date? Oh.. she's a grouppy :)

I think Doris Crockford was introduced and then is mentioned as
having come back several times through the line of people shaking
Harry's hand. I think she smokes a pipe, and she may have been
the unnamed old woman who once waved to Harry years ago.

She wasn't Lockhart's fan, nor was she Stubby Boardman's date.
If she's a groupie, she's only a groupie for Harry.

Ah, interesting. I thought the second witch was a different person and found
that to be rather odd ... now it make sense,
