It doesn't appear that any new information has appeared, with the
exception of a new witch of the month, but JKR's website is now
decorated for the holidays...I particularly liked the Christmas Tree
and the snow in the "Do Not Disturb" room.

Yes. There is a Christmas tree reflecting in the mirror on the right,
holly in a vase on the left, and snow outside the window.

These are advent calendars, quite popular in the UK -Mine's a Barbie
Calendar- in which you open a door each day leading upto Christmas (or the
new year since the millennium) and take out a really cheap piece of
chocolate.

I don't think you get them in the US much, certainly when I was over there,
I had to get my Advent Calendar sent over from the UK

Hey! Will her Christmas present for us be the door opening with the
date of the HBP book release?... I hope so!

Don't think so. As another poster said, it is an Advent Calendar which counts
the days to Christmas. What I found fun was the bows and gift tags all over
the place and the Christmas cards on the bulletin board.

Did anyone else notice one card says Merry Christmas and one says Happy
Christmas? I would like to see a card with Holiday Greetings from every
country that publishes her books, but there wouldn't be room for anything else
on the site!

Delurking to say they're all over the place here in Canada. Some aren't
just Advent calendars - they'll count the days up until New Year's Day.
Seven more chocolates!!

I am a little disappointed in some of the material on the site. It hasn't
been changed for months - The Latest Rumours and The Daily News haven't
changed since the summer. I was hoping for a few new "tidbits".

. . . and NO icicles forming on the wind-chimes!
They function just as well as they did in the summer.

hm, I had something like that when I was a kid. ... Although mine
didn't have chocolate... now I feel kinda gyped. :P

American kids sometimes make something similar to the Advent Calendar
in grade school, usually a chain of paper links, you take one off
every day.

Well, perhaps she's a bit distracted writing a little known book
called HBP.

Well she takes time out to play minesweeper, and put a little update up
about it. Don't know how long its been there but I've just found under
Miscellaneous on Extra Stuff that she has improved her minesweeper score
from 101 seconds to 99. Congratulations to Jo! :D
