Okay,

Can someone please confirm stories I've heard that HF's leading ladies
are a bad kisser? I vaguely recall an article in which Wendy Crewson
(Air Force One) said Ford was "I'm sure the nicest guy, but isn't a very
good kisser". Or something like that.

Anyhow, remembering that, when I watched Air Force One again, I noticed
Harrison's technique for the onscreen kiss did indeed suck. It looked
weak and geeky.

Having said that, the kisses he gave out in Indiana Jones films don't
appear wimpy at all.

The ONLY reasons I'm curious are: 1)I'm surprised his leading ladies
would say such things about him, and 2)it could possibly harm his
box-office status as a leading man.

It wasn't Wendy Crewson, as a matter of fact, she gushed in an interview about
how great it was to kiss Harrison Ford. The actress you are refering to is
Helen Mirren, who played his wife in The Mosquito Coast. The only reference I
have heard about it from Harrison Ford was in a brief Q&A in Time, where he
said he didn't think he ever kissed Helen Mirren. And there were no romantic
scenes in the movie. She later admitted in an interview that she made it up
(looking for publicity maybe?)

I didn't think it looked weak and geeky at all. In fact, it looked very much
like the way my husband kisses me -- and it's neither weak nor geeky!

Weak? Geeky? Two words that definitely don't belong in the
same paragraph with Harrison Ford... ; -)

Except when talking about his highschool years, I guess.

Talk about a late bloomer, eh? :)

I read in Entertainment Weekly that his leading ladies (with the exception
of Lesley Anne Downs) rated him the best kisser with whom they have worked.

A bad kisser? Not if you ask Carrie Fisher... I still remember the look
on her face when someone asked her about that a few years back. She
swore he was given lips by a prop department that were made to... oops,
time flies. Gotta go. But I'll tell ya, if a woman ever got that way
thinking about the way _I_ kissed her... well, I could die real happy.

In People's Sexiest Man Alive issue, Lesley Anne Downs had lots of good
things to say about Harrison, including his kisses.

I'm going to believe that he's a geat kisser, myself. ;-)

Actually Harrison's status as a shy, reclusive boy in highschool is
widely known in Hollywood. He was considered such a "nerd" that none of
the "cool" girls would even consider dating him. I'll bet they're SORRY
now. It's one of the great comeback stories of Hollywood.

Here's a snippet from a People article from a while back:
=======
"By all accounts, his career at Maine Township High School in Des
Plaines, Ill., was remarkable only in its mediocrity. Known as Harry --
if he was known at all -- the shy student never rose above a C average.
And while his peers found glory as football st ars or student government
officers, Harry toiled in obscurity, wheeling projectors from room to
room as an audiovisual assistant. Such a nonentity was Harry that one
classmate, Ernest Ricketts, recalls, "A girl I knew accepted a date with
him and then decided, `Nope, can't do it. Too much of a geek.' "
=======

Geek to Hollywood superstar. So actually, my statement was a compliment
on his status as a leading man, a triumphant one at that. So I regard
your "not very nice" comment as rather inane. (sniff) My post WAS very
nice. :)

p.s.
there are lots of others who were "losers" in highschool who later
became huge stars on TV and movies. That's the wonderful thing about
growing up and being talented. It can leave the adolescent "cool" folks
gnawing at their finger-nails.
(e.g. Jerry Seinfeld, Kevin Costner, David Schwimmer, Nicole Kidman,
etc)

Gus,

I've always told my kids to keep an eye on the "geeks"... it seems far
too common that they go on to stunning successes in life, to be
ignored! Speilberg, Gates, Ford... along with others you've
mentioned. If anyone was a "star" in high school, they usually didn't
end up as expected. -Omi

Ok, let me just expand on what i said earlier. Hopefully you won't find this so
inane....

We all know he was considered by others to be a geek, we've all read the books.

I was responding to your comment of "Talk about a late bloomer..."

Who are you to judge beauty?Maybe he wasn't the hottest guy on campus.... And
we still haven't seen you offer up any of your graduation pics.

Take care,
Rachel

I'm not judging Harrison's beauty, Rachel. His fellow highschool
graduates were. :)

Sure, I'll send them to you. Modesty aside, they're actually pretty
good. :)

That's why Highschool reunions are always so interesting. Things don't
always turn out as one might think.

I would amend your earlier statement though. Yes, many "geeks" do become
incredibly successful, but some highschool "stars" are also still
shining...i.e.Demi Moore, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, Sharon
Stone, and many politicians. But you're right, we've all seen some of
our fellow stars fall to earth. :)

You're correct and I did think of that right after I sent my post.
Similarly, some "geeks" remain "geeks"! So, you can only tell so much
from the "unformed" highschooler. :)

I just thought I'd say that Demi Moore went to my old high school. Briefly, but
still.... Other famous alumni Brandon Call and Traci Lords. ;-) What a track
record.

"Do you think I could be famous?"
"For what?"
"I don't know. I could be an actress. I'm mental enough."

Ok, whatever. I call a truce. A guy I work with looks kinda like Harrison early
days (think Tower Trotters pic, but cuter). Who knows what could happen....I
just realized this similarity tonight when I bought Imperfect Hero.

By the way, on that topic. I haven't read much, but it does seem that he's
adding a lot of unknown facts in. Like he's writting a fictional novel.

Rachel :o)
