I think it's called something like 'Netscape News...' :)

Seriously, if you get a problem with the server, you should contact your
ISP. It sounds like a problem on their end...

Heh, I didn't even know we could get to newsgroups on Netscape. I'm being an
airhead today....and I'm new to newsgroups, I'm used to message boards. Hey,
if I can get to newsgroups through Netscape, I could come here during school!
It'll give me something to do in computer class. God forbid I pay attention.

Umm... If all you have is AOL then you do have to use AOL's proprietary
software. And I know other people post here. I have AOL, but don't use it
to post because I don't like there news reader.

Mike's right. It's stated plainly in the FAQ NG. We tried to get around it,
but oh well.

As good news, I think AOL 4.0 is being tested right now (and is actually
available, but not perfected yet). It will use Internet Explorer 4, and
Outlook Express. YAY! A real newsreader and e-mail system. Although, I
think we may lose that cool ability to see when things were read.

It's normally posted weekly, but Peter is having problems, and can't
even e-mail it to me this week to post for him. So it's only on the web
this week. Or maybe it will appear tomorrow. Don't know if he is back up
or not.

Anyway. Tell all your friends.

Well I have been testing aol4 for month's and the only thing different about
the mail is that you get a spell checker. There are plans to use Outlook,
but I dont think the tests went very well. They had a Mapi Transport thing
written for e-mail, But I could never get it to run. If you would like I
could try to find it again and E-mail it to you? Where did you see
screenshots?

Maybe they weren't screenshots. Maybe just artwork. Somewhere in the AOL
4 message boards I think. Or the Upgrade section or something. No way
was I actually going to download it and try it. The RELEASED versions of
AOL are bad enough.

But, MSN managed to convert to a totally standards-based format, with
little hassle. So hopefully AOL can do it. Of course, M$N had about a
THOUSAND times the money backing it up.

Lol, the funny thing is I have never had a problem with Aol (even the beta
builds) on my desktop computer. But on my laptop, I always expect to reboot
whenever I start Aol3.0 or Aol4.0.

I'm keeping my fingures crossed that they will goto a standards-based
format. As for the money part. Steve Case should have alot of it
stockpiled by now, he sure hasn't spent much of it upgrading the
connections. At least not in my area.

If you have another Internet provider other than AOL you can use
netscape. But, you have to have netscape communicator,,not just the
navigator installed on your computer. On AOL you can't use netscape to
view newsgroups yet. Hope I helped.
