Kinnear Likes Holly's 'Smile'
by Anita M. Busch
Greg Kinnear and Lauren Holly, who worked together in
supporting roles in Paramount Pictures' "Sabrina," now are starring
opposite each other in lead roles in Rysher Entertainment's
romantic comedy "A Smile Like Yours." Joan Cusack and Jay Thomas
have also joined the cast.
The project, which marks the directorial debut of Rysher CEO
Keith Samples, will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.
"Smile," which is being produced by David Kirkpatrick and Tony
Amatullo, goes before the cameras June 15 in San Francisco. The
project originally was written by Brad Parson and Kevin Meyers, and
was rewritten by Robert Harling, who also is executive producing.
Kinnear was cast after the filmmakers saw "Dear God," in which
the actor is starring for Paramount. Rysher is handling foreign
sales for the project.
Kinnear will play Holly's husband in the story about a young
S.F. couple trying to have a child. Kinnear's character isn't keen
on the idea; Holly's is obsessed with it.
Cusack, who was nominated for an Academy Award for "Working
Girl" and portrayed the gold-digging nanny in "Addams Family
Values," is set as Holly's best friend. Together they run a perfume
shop called the Seventh Scent.
Thomas, who starred with Richard Dreyfuss in "Mr. Holland's
Opus," portrays Kinnear's confidante. Kinnear is repped by William
Morris Agency, Cusack is with ICM and Thomas is repped by Don
Buchwald & Associates.

(Well, at least now we know why Greg's on hiatus from "Later" in
June and July!)
