tribal chief in "Half Human: The Story of the Abominable Snowman". He
died in 1960.
1909: EDDIE DEW, who played an officer in "Them!", is born in Sumner,
Wash.
1927: PETER FERNANDEZ, who directed, wrote, and dubbed the English
dialogue on the stateside releases of "Mothra", "Godzilla vs. the
Thing", "The Space Giants", "Ultraman", "Godzilla versus the Sea
Monster" (as Ryota), "Son of Godzilla", "Destroy All Monsters",
"Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster", and "Inframan", is born in New York
City. He is perhaps best recognized as the voice of "Speed Racer" and
wrote the English version of the theme song.
1956: "Uchujin Tokyo ni arawaru" ("Spaceman Appears in Tokyo") a.k.a.
"Warning from Space" a.k.a. "The Mysterious Satellite" is released in
Japan.
JAMES ADAMSON, who played a native in the original "King Kong",
dies from a heart attack in Los Angeles.
1964: MINETARO MOCHIZUKI, creator of the “Dragon Head” manga, is born
in Kanagawa, Japan.
1967: Episode 29 of "Ultraman", "Challenge into Subterra", debuts on
Japanese TV.
1968: EDWARD BURNS, who played Jack Andrews in the U.S. version of
"One Missed Call", is born in Woodside, N.Y. A former "go-for" for
"Entertainment Tonight", he was also in "The Brothers McMullen" (which
he also wrote and directed), “She’s the One”, “No Looking Back”,
“Saving Private Ryan”, “15 Minutes”, “Sidewalks of New York”, "A Sound
of Thunder", “The Groomsmen”, and “Purple Violets”.
1972: Episode 44 of "Kamen Rider", "Graveyard Demon Gabibinga", debuts
on Japanese TV.
1974: Episode 18 of "Inazuman", "A Lightning Strike for Friendship!!",
debuts on Japanese TV.
1976: TRACY LYNN CRUZ, who played Ashley Hammond a.k.a. the Yellow
Space Power Ranger on "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers", "Power Rangers
Turbo", "Power Rangers in Space", and "Power Rangers Lost Galaxy", is
born in Orange County, Calif.
1977: Episode 78 of "Secret Squadron Goranger", "Black Jamming! A
Primeval Roar", debuts on Japanese TV.
MAI HOSHO, who played Kaoru in "Hakaider" and Uri no onna in
"Onmyoji", is born in Osaka. She was also on "Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy".
1978: JACK STONEY, who played a helper in "Tarantula", dies in Los
Angeles.
1981: KIPP HAMILTON, the singer in "War of the Gargantuas", dies in
Los Angeles.
1983: Episode 50, the final episode of "Great Task Force Goggle V",
"Children of the Future", debuts on Japanese TV.
1986: SOTARO YASUDA, who played Ken Hisatsu/Geki Chopper on "Beast
Fist Squadron Gekiranger", "Beast Fist Squadron Gekiranger vs.
Bokenger", and "Engine Squadron Go-onger vs. Gekiranger", is born in
Newport Beach, Calif.
1989: Episode 13 of "Kamen Rider Black RX", "The Evil Devil Girl Aimed
At", debuts on Japanese TV.
2000: Episode 131 of "Godzilla: The Series", "Metamorphosis",
premieres on Fox.
