Was way too dark. And didn't have enough Japanese in it. :D

And, well, the human characters paled in comparison to the monsters,
which was a problem because the focus was mostly on uninteresting
characters blithely staring at destruction.

Lots of problems with Godzilla 2014....I liked it when I saw in the theater, but watching the Blu-Ray, the flaws were so obvious, and fatal.

The main issue I had with it - the myopic focus on Brody and his family. The story labored mightily to involve every single Brody in the action, or put them in peril, etc. Stretched suspension of disbelief to the breaking point. It made me think of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the Infinite Improbability Drive; was like someone was running the I.I.D. at various points in the film.

And there were enough plot holes to drive a bus through.

Have to agree the lighting was a problem. Even in the few day shot it seemed to be more darkish that it should. Sad that the Big G spent so little time on screen.

I totally agree with you two, i literally had to watch a blu-ray version to see the full fight scene of the Mutos and Godzilla like it so dark you cant even see the battle except lights so as godzilla atomic breath.
