1873: OLIVER ECKHARDT, who played a husband in the original "King Kong", is born in Missouri.

1908: NOBUO NAKAMURA is born in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan. His roles include anthropologist Prof. Tanaka in "Half Human: The Story of the Abominable Snowman", Dr. Munakata in "Dogora", the skeptical museum chief in "Frankenstein Conquers the World", Dr. Kita in "War of the Gargantuas", and the Japanese ambassador to Australia in "Tidal Wave", and was also in "the Last War".

1916: JAMES H. NICHOLSON, co-founder of American International Pictures with Samuel Z. Arkoff, is born. He was one of the executive producers of the stateside releases of "Attack of the Mushroom People", "Atragon", "The Lost World of Sinbad", "Dogora the Space Monster", and "Frankenstein Conquers the World", as well as producing "The Amazing Colossal Man", "The Werewolf", "War of the Colossal Beast", "I Was a Teenage Werewolf", "I Was a Teenage Frankenstein", "Earth vs. the Spider", "How to Make a Monster", "The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini", and "The Wild Angels".

1933: The original "King Kong" is released in Japan.

1934: KAZUHIKO KISHINO is born. He did alien voices in Episode 39 of "Return of Ultraman" and Episodes 35 & 53 of "Ultraman Taro"; villain voices on "Great Squadron Goggle V", "Blitzkrieg Squadron Changeman", "Space Sheriff Shaider", "Exceedraft", "Kamen Rider Black", "Kamen Rider Black RX", "Dinosaur Squadron Zyuranger", "Superpower Squadron Ohranger"; of Numa-O on "Special Police Squadron Dekaranger"; and played Rika's father in Episode 13 of "Inazuman".

1935: YUKIO AKATSUKA, creator of the "Akko's Secret" manga which was turned into "Akko-chan: The Movie", is born in Manchuria.

1943: KEIICHI NODA, who was the voice of Zigra in the Japanese version of "Gamera vs. Zigra", is born in Yamaguchi, Japan. He was also in "Destroy All Planets" and "Lake of Dracula" and was the narrator on "Robot Detective".

1960: HARRY TENBROOK, who played a sailor in "King Kong" and "Son of Kong", dies of lung cancer in Woodland Hills, Calif.

1962: TITO VUOLO, who played Commissario Charra in "20 Million Miles to Earth", dies at 69 of cancer in Los Angeles.

1968: MAKIKO WATANABE, who played Yayoi Takano in "Isola", is born in Tokyo.

1969: BONG JOON-HO, co-writer and director of "The Host", is born in Daegu, South Korea. His other films include "Mother" and "Snowpiercer".
LEE JOYNER, make-up sculptor on "Godzilla", is born in Birmingham, Ala.

1972: SHIDO NAKAMURA, who played O-tengu in "Kitaro" and was the voice of Ryuuk in the "Death Note" films and anime, is born in Tokyo. He was also in "The Neighbor No. 13".

1973: Episode 50 of "Warrior of Love Rainbowman", "The Bullet That Went Insane", debuts on Japanese TV.
Episode 24 of "Ultraman Taro", "This Is the Land of Ultra!", debuts on Japanese TV.


1974: Episode 31 of "Kamen Rider X", "Stand Up! King Dark!!", debuts on Japanese TV.
