is born in California.

1911: WILLIAM LAVA, co-composer on "The Deadly Mantis", is born in St.
Paul, Minn.

1931: HIROSHI MIYAGAWA, who composed the song "Call Happiness" for
"Ghidrah -- the Three-Headed Monster", is born in Rumoe, Hokkaido,
Japan.
ASAO KOIKE, who played Koizumi in "G.I. Samurai", is born in
Tokyo.

1934: MAKOTO SATO is born in Japan. He played Uchida the villain in
"The H-Man", the Black Pirate in "The Lost World of Sinbad", Urocco in
"Message from Space", and Sendo in "Shikoku". The star of Toho's
"Three Guys" film series, Sato also starred in "Desperado Outpost",
"The Man in Red", and "Fangs of the Underworld".

1938: MACHIKO SOGA, who played Bandora on "Dinosaur Task Force
Zyuranger" (a.k.a. Rita Repulsa on "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers"), is
born in Tokyo. She also played God-Iguana on "Warrior of Love
Rainbowman", Dr. Kate on "Kamen Rider Stronger", Cyborg Queen Hedrian
on "Electromagnetic Task Force Denziman", "Solar Task Force Sunvulcan"
and "Solar Task Force Sunvulcan: The Movie", Kiba on "Space Sheriff
Gavan", Pandora on "Dimensional Warrior Spielban", Desponda on "V.R.
Troopers", and Magiel on "Magiranger" (a.k.a. Mystic Mother on "Power
Rangers Mystic Force") and "Magiranger the Movie: Bride of
Infershia" .

1950: JIM KNOBELOCH, who played the thuggish studio guy in the 2005
remake of "King Kong", is born in Belleville, Ill.

1952: FRANCOIS GIRODAY, who played Jean-Philippe in "Godzilla", is
born in Oxford, England.
The original "King Kong" is rereleased in West Germany.

1960: TAKEHIRO MURATA, who played company man Kenji Ando in "Godzilla
vs. Mothra: Battle for the Earth" and GPN Director Shinoda in
"Godzilla 2000", is born in Tokyo. He also played Yukari's editor in
"Godzilla vs. Destoroyah", a jet fighter pilot in "Godzilla, Mothra,
King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack", and a man picking up
cans in "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla", and appeared in the films "I
Came This Far Away", "Minbo -- or the Gentle Art of Japanese
Extortion", "The Big Patient", and "Marutai No Onna".

1962: ETSUSHI TOYOKAWA, who played Kato Yasunori in "The Great Yokai
War" and Dr. Takokoro Yusuke in the remake of "Submersion of Japan",
is born in Osaka.

1965: YORIKO DOGUCHI, who played Saeko in "Mikadroid" and Nakamura in
"Ju-on", is born in Tokyo.

1971: TIMOTHY NIELSEN, sound effects editor on "Lorelei: The Witch of
the Pacific Ocean", is born.

1972: Episode 51 of "Kamen Rider", "Stone Demon Unicornos vs. Double
Rider Kick", debuts on Japanese TV.
"Kamen Raidaa tai Shokkaa" ("Kamen Rider vs. Shocker") is
released in Japan.

1975: "Terror of Mechagodzilla" is released in South Korea.

1981: Episode 49 of "Ultraman 80", "80's Ultimate Pinch! Transform!
Female Ultraman!", debuts on Japanese TV.

1997: HARRY RAYBOULD, who played the M.P. at the main gate in "The
Amazing Colossal Man", dies at 64 in Los Angeles.

2000: Episode 129 of "Godzilla: The Series", "Vision", premieres on
Fox.

2003: "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe" is released on DVD in the
U.S.

2005: "Ju-on: The Grudge 2" is released theatrically in the U.K.
"The Ring Two" is released in the United States, Denmark, Estonia,
