Ten Lost Tribes?

"James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting." - James 1:1

How could there be "ten lost tribes" when...

1. James wrote directly to the tribes; how could he do that if they were "lost?" How could he know where they were, and how to get an epistle to them if they were "lost?"

2. James addressed twelve, not ten, who he said were...

3. "scattered abroad" ...aka; the historically well known Israeli diaspora.

4. Greeted them directly; was not writing about them, but rather directly to them in a manner exhibiting evidence of prior two-way communication with them. as in...

5. Spoke to them with specific instructions and encouragements having a knowledge of what they needed to hear.

Doesn't sound like "ten lost tribes" to me. More like twelve well known tribes.

The Book of James, if written by James the brother of Jesus, would have been written sometime before AD 69 (or AD 62), when he was martyred.

If this James knew of the "twelve tribes which are scattered abroad," it's safe to conclude that the other Apostles knew of them also and where they were. It's unlikely that it was "secret knowledge" that only James possessed, or that they were "completely lost to history" as some people claim. James knew who they were, where they were and wrote directly to them. They were not lost.

Today we know there are Jews in almost every part of the world. They also crossed the Caucasus mountains which are north of the modern country of Turkey and just inside the border of Russia. Again; this was well recorded, well known, and they were not lost.

rpbc: Room for imposters aside, there's no money or mystery to be made unless they are considered lost.

That is for sure! Lots of money in making up mysteries.

rpbc: Not to say Scott wasn't legitimately... if there is any legitimacy... that he wasn't taken in by it... but he sure lusted after their power and status in the world, knocking on the palace door like one petitioning the king's favor. He practically came on himself one festival after meeting one of them at a gala... Fergie, I think, invite through Lod Cook, one in a line parading for a handshake... not that it matters but I didn't like his deference at the time any more than when Jesse Jackson was on his stage and Scott bowed to invite him to give a sermon.

rpbc: That assumes 'they' were ever 'lost'. Camelot... Khazars... yes, yes...interesting as Lancelot and vampires... also one big spider hole featuring romance and soul sucking monsters. Have God's Spirit with you, be conscious of Him, or be terribly seduced. Scott was seduced.

Sadly true. Gene fell into all types of false doctrine, and seemed to bury himself deeper and deeper into it.

It seems to me that Gene, by seductive argument and the twisting of scripture, created an environment (a culture) where he could live anyway he wanted, do what he wanted, and had a group of people (lately called "scotties") that would support him, and even violently protect him, no matter what he did. Hence the reason he could drag in porn actresses (aka, pony girls) and front seat them in the church (when they walk in, all will rise and applaud), have T and A shows at his home, spend vast sums of money anyway he wanted, hide behind "cause" after "cause" using them to keep the feds from finding out how the money was really being spent while telling everyone he was "protecting their privacy."

When you have a pastor telling you he is "protecting you," you have a big problem. ...sound familiar?..."I'm protecting Doc's legacy."

Gene's culture was one of "live in any manner you want, get away with anything you can, just as long as you're "faithing;" i.e., getting behind his causes with 100% loyalty and sending him money.

He was indeed seduced. One of Gene's saddest legacies is Melissa. A person who has absolutely no idea what a Christian is or what it means to live like one.

We are not called to "get away with anything we can...as long as we "faithe," and it's time Christians start asking themselves NOT what can I get away with, NOT even what is right or wrong, but rather what pleases our Father God or doesn't please Him. We were created to please God wherein we find our greatest and most satisfying reason to live.

I don't really believe that having porn actresses drop by your home to give you private strip shows and forcing a congregation to applaud them, etc., is pleasing to God. Gene was clearly deceived and out of control the last years of his life. The little power that he had went to his head leading to the cult mess he left behind.

Gene was a great teacher in many ways, but he was also a sad failure in many other ways, some of which he was able to cover up, with others he was unable to do so. One of Gene's saddest legacies is Melissa. Timmy is also a perfect example of a failed legacy Gene left; a person who thinks he can say and do anything he wants as long as he "tithes" to some con artist. I often wonder how many people who followed Gene Scott, believed they could live anyway they wanted to as long as the "tithe checks" were sent, but will hear "depart from me, I never knew you" after claiming "but Lord I sent in "tithe checks" to Gene Scott and I thought I was a faither!"
