DOESN'T LINE UP

Many times on Genie PhD's Festival of Faith (get on the phones, send in your tithezzzzzz!!!!!) program he would try to convince his listeners that Atlantis existed and that Eden was on it, or it, Atlantis, was major part of the antediluvian world, a major influential factor on the pre-flood earth.

Plato's description of Atlantis is basically this...

Plato told the story of Atlantis around 360 B.C. The founders of Atlantis, he said, were half god and half human. They created a utopian civilization and became a great naval power. Their home was made up of concentric islands separated by wide moats and linked by a canal that penetrated to the center.

It was supposed to be an "ideal society" of advanced principles, one of great virtue and justice. A society, with its wise philosophers, who's rulers had the capacity to acquire knowledge and to apply it impartially and incorruptibly.

THE PROBLEM

There just one little problem with Genie PhD and Plato's "virtuous and just society," Atlantis; IT DOES'NT LINE UP WITH SCRIPTURE.

Quite the opposite of this antediluvian world of a "virtuous and just society," (WHICH IS PURE GENIE NONSESE); IN FACT ALL OF HUMANITY (ALL MEANS ALL) is described in the Bible as this...

"And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them." - Genesis 6:5-7

"every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only EVIL continually."

...OOPS! Doesn't line up with Plato or Genie's claims, NOT EVEN CLOSE. The wonderful society described by Plato and Genie simply didn't exist and is refuted clearly by scripture.

...just exposing a little more of Genie PhD's bullshit.

Your thoughts?

Doc came from that era that tried to reinterpret myth in a more literal way, that such stories may have some historical root despite evolving differently over time. So, two such stories for the sake of argument wouldn't necessarily need to largely match up. He took the Old Testament mythology too literally and therefore his scheme would require subordinating other myths to it. Whatever the truths or historical memory traces one would decide about them would somehow be conducive to supporting a literal biblical view of history. The Old Testament antediluvian world is just as much nonsense as a flat Earth.
