It is a Biblical fact that we have Scripture that commands tithing to Levites, but not one single Scripture that states one is to tithe to a Gentile pastor, elder, or bishop of a New Testament Church.

Hebrews 7:8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

Here, men that die receive tithes. Who are the men that die that receive tithes? The sons of Levi...

Hebrews 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
But there He receiveth them. Receives what? Tithes. What tithes? The tithes that the sons of Levi receive.

And what tithes do the sons of Levi receive? The tithes according to the Law.
Leviticus 27:30-34 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD'S: it is holy unto the LORD. And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof. And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed. These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

1. They received the tithes of the seed of the land. This is speaking of garden produce. Food for the sustenance of the workers of the Temple and for their sustenance at home as well.

2. They received tithes of the fruit of the tree. This is speaking of that which grows on trees, such as pomegranates, dates and figs. Again, for the sustenance of the workers of the Temple and for their sustenance at home.

3. They received tithes of the livestock in Israel. Animals born in the flocks and herds, were to be tithed from. Every tenth animal to pass under the counting rod.

4. They received tithes of the children of Israel. There was no command for peoples of Gentile nations to travel to Israel to tithe. Nor was there a command for peoples of Gentile nations to tithe once God gave the tithe to the Levites.

Numbers 18:24 But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

Numbers 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

Numbers 18:28 Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD'S heave offering to Aaron the priest.

God's tithes "according to the Law," (Hebrews 7:5) were agricultural." There is no other type of tithe commanded in the Word of God.

The tithes "He receiveth" are the tithes "according to the Law." He is not the one commanding or demanding the monetary tithe that men preach today. His approval and endorsement is not on such a doctrine. That which is written in His Holy Bible is immutable. Hath He said and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, shall He not make it good?

He does not, nor will He ever, contradict His written Word.

"What's so special about agriculture?" " Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any means of economic production."

That is the simple distinction, the necessary other ingredient for salvation? Come to think of it, It sounds like a variation on "Faith without works is dead." I didn't think this way of course with in my years with Doc's ministry. If one wants to reason that way about the tithe then what else from Old Testament law could one reason Christians need to be doing likewise in order to be saved? I don't think it's a bad principle for Christians to strive for if so inclined. But, I don't see how it can be demanded in such a way that it doesn't become a legalistic crutch. I can only say looking back I think Doc had some supreme double-think on this issue and probably had more to do with the economic demands of running a broadcast ministry.

Yes and no
Financial needs were there but it was more than that.

There is no freedom in a vacuum
God gave his son his son gave his life and can we do less?

Jesus
Greater things than this shall ye do

Kro
All that Jesus wanted was for us to receive the word of god, to hear his testimony and see all that john saw.
At the end of the day it was about rev 1:2 but as every church befor it doc and ourselves failed here.

I can see why god would choose those that gave so much to enter into revelation as john in the spirit of Elijah and produce a babtism of revelation but It hasnt happened...yet.

We were freed from sin to turn to revelation not money.

I PAST THE TEST!!

I tithed on Sunday, it was awesome! Everyone should tithe!

With my tithe money (which I kept safe in my wallet) I went out and bought some really nice wine, some great liqueurs, a few things I have been desiring to get (new wide screen TV), and a few things I have been lusting after (new laptop), an entire shopping cart of some really great groceries, and the best part?...I learned to fear the Lord even more! Tithing is wonderful!

Is Deuteronomy 14:22-26 awesome or what?!!!

"Kro to special, you do God a service with your efforts, Pergamos must repent, but that is just the first act of repentance"

The 5 Acts of repentance

Ephasus
[4] Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
[5] Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Pergamos
[14] But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
[15] So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.
[16] Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth

Thyatira
[20] Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
[21] And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
[22] Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

Sardis
[2] Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
[3] Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee

Laodicea
[16] So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
[17] Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
[18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
[19] As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
