I am sitting here watching a program by the above title on the History Channel. It is about the outdated infrastructure in this country, particularly the sewer systems in cities across the country.

Could it get any more depressing? Here we are in debt up to our eyeballs, and EVERYTHING needs fixed immediately. We are also talking bridges, dams, electric grids, and drinking water systems that are in bad need of repair immediately. All this at a time when the world is in chaos, and crazy people want to usher in their Mahdi.

It's hard to remain positive sometimes, yet this is to be expected in the end times. There are lots of job opportunities if the money was funneled in the right places, but I think the powers that be know our currency is worthless, so they print as much as possible to keep rolling foward until the wheels fall off the cart.

Have a nice day!

Do you feel we are in the end times? Why is that?

What "part" of the end times specifically are we in?

Please reply.

As far as needing repair, the telephone technology
or telephony, has always kept the phone on.
There are very few times i have ever had my home
phone service disrupted. The good ol' twisted pair
wiring still delivers even with all the data stream transmission
going on.

There are those who disconnected their home lines
because they have cellphones, but I kinda like the
wire coming in the house.

BETWEEN THE LINES

No budget, no cuts, no plan

by Joseph Farah

It has been more than 1,000 days, the equivalent in time of John
Fitzgerald Kennedy’s entire presidency, since the federal government
had a budget.

Most Americans don’t realize Barack Obama has operated through his
entire first term without any spending plan whatsoever.

Why? Because Democrats who controlled both houses of Congress for the
first two years of the Obama administration never bothered to pass
one. And Democrats who control the Senate still refuse to approve one
now.

Yet, this isn’t considered news by most of the major media in the U.S.
– therefore, most Americans are completely in the dark about spending,
revenues and borrowing.

It is in this hideously surreal and grotesque framework that Obama
delivers his State of the Union message in which he calls for more
spending, more borrowing, more government intrusion into our lives and
more centralization of power in Washington.

What do Republicans in Congress do about it? They squawk. But it must
never be forgotten that Republicans had an opportunity to stop this
insanity last year and decided not only to allow it to continue but to
surrender their authority to freeze borrowing until at least January
2013. House Republicans had absolute power to tear up government’s
credit card in 2011 – and instead they handed Obama a limitless line
of credit.

It is with this incredible backdrop that the U.S. debt exceeds $15.3
trillion – equal to the entire nation’s gross domestic product. It
hasn’t been that high since World War II – when the country was
fighting for its very existence. And, still, Washington stays the
course – even stepping up out-of-control spending.

Don’t believe it when Republicans in Washington tell you they have
somehow “cut spending.” You can’t cut spending without a budget.
Without a written spending plan, what is a cut?

The rhetoric coming out of Washington from both Democrats and
Republicans is Orwellian. Cut means increase. Overspending is good.
Responsibility and the rule of law are bad.

How do we make sense of all this?

Can anything positive come out of such irresponsibility and
recklessness?

How do we refocus the national debate in a presidential election year
in which no one – not even Republicans – are recognizing the economic
calamity ahead of us?

Are you watching the middle east news.... that involving Syria and
Iran in the context of this whole arab spring thing. Notice the
arrangement of power such that a stalemate can be proclaimed when
anybody with common sense can see that in a showdown... a real
showdown... WAR.... the US could use an atomic weapon delivered from
a
cruise missle in any one of a number of places and the whole show
would come to a screeching halt... my god, the cowboy came out and
it'll go for broke..... what do we do. I'll tell you what would
happen besides a domestic energy plan that would yield most of this
irrelevant... lots of feathers in the air at first from the usual
places
until they too figured out it's WAR with the USA. Reasonableness
would soon follow and another twenty years of peace would follow as
it
did after WWII. I wonder what's going to happen... at what point
does
the west actually fight back for surely these people will destroy us
in the biblical sense if possible and the USA is the obstacle. By
the
way.... I listened to a Doc cassette recently from 1983 after the
truck bombing of marine barracks in Lebanon and from biblical verse
he
was describing the specific situation that would develop, mentioning
Syria, Iran, Libia, Iraq and Egypt in partculiar and you know
what..... it's right on to the tee... with great specificity. I'm
giving Scott the credit but more than that the accuracy of the Bible.

GLOBAL INSECURITY
Iran dispatches Hezbollah terror cells to attack
Goal is to intimidate until nuclear capability can be announced

By Reza Kahlili
Iran is taking several steps to help Syria’s beleaguered President
Bashar Assad, assassinate opposition figures and attack Israeli and
American interests worldwide, sources have confirmed.
After the recent assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa
Ahmadi-Roshan, deputy director of the first uranium enrichment
facility at Natanz, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
ordered retaliation.
He instructed Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the chief commander of the Quds
Forces, to prepare the ground for terrorist attacks, first to
retaliate against assassination and espionage within the Iranian
nuclear program, and second, to go on the offensive to make the West
understand that any military action against Iran will create much
instability in the world.
The Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah will meet with Iranian Quds
Forces in Iraq’s Kurdistan region next week to discuss ways to export
arms and explosives to Hezbollah cells and strengthen terrorist cells
in the Middle East, according to SepahOnline, the media outlet close
to the Revolutionary Guards.
Other sources reveal that several key figures in the Middle East are
on the Shiite regime’s list of assassination targets, including
Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian National Authority, and
several other Sunni authorities within the Iraqi government.
Hezbollah cells, in coordination with the Quds Forces, are to attack
U.S. and Israeli interests around the world, even within America
itself, the sources said.
On Jan. 13, Kristie Kenney, U.S. ambassador to Thailand, warned of a
“real and very credible” threat of a terrorist attack in Bangkok. The
warning came as Thai authorities arrested two Lebanese Hezbollah
suspects.
Also today, two Azerbaijani citizens were arrested in an alleged plot
to assassinate the Israeli ambassador to Baku, Azerbaijan. The
suspects, who had been living in the city of Irbil, Iran, have been
charged with smuggling weapons and explosives into Azerbaijan.
A source within the Revolutionary Guards has also revealed that
Lebanese Hezbollah terrorists have been called on by Iran to protect
the Guards base in the town of Mazaya in Syria. The unidentified
source told the pan-Arab media outlet Al Arabiya that Iran wants
protection for its military advisers who are in Syria to help Assad
suppress the uprising against him.
The source, who is close to Soleimani, said the Guard forces in Syria,
in coordination with Russia and China, act only as advisers to protect
the Assad regime.
He added that Russia has committed to sending an aircraft carrier task
force to the area to ensure that “the West knows we will not allow any
military adventurism against Syria.”
The Guard commander said there is information that Israel is planning
direct interference in the Syrian uprising by forming an anti-Shi’ite
coalition.
“Therefore we have requested Hezbollah enter into a dialog with the
Syrian Muslim Brotherhood to form a united front against Israel.”
The leaders of the Islamic regime in Iran believe that an aggressive
terrorist campaign on the world stage along with increased instability
in the Strait of Hormuz will send a strong signal to the West to lay
off its nuclear weapons program, giving the regime enough time to
obtain the bomb and then announce nuclear capability, which they think
will checkmate the world.
WND reported only days ago on reports that Iran is preparing now for
Armageddon.
The report documented how Khamenei has held several secret meetings
with his economic and military advisers in recent days to prepare for
the possibility of war with the United States.
Sources report the preparations are to include the execution of those
Iranians who oppose the regime.
This was similar to action taken by the founder of the Islamic regime
in 1988, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
In the book, “A Time to Betray,” it is documented when Khomeini
announced the campaign, he said, “If the person at any stage or at any
time maintains his (or her) support for the opposing groups, the
sentence is execution. Annihilate the enemies of Islam immediately.”
The fatwa led to the execution of thousands of innocent men and women
of all ages in a very short period.

If one is a believer of the Bible, which I am, I do feel we are at the
end of this age. Call it a gut feeling or whatever. As for which
"part", I don't know, and I am not a date-setter, nor do I subscribe
to the 2012 doomsday scenerios. I do however, believe that God is in
control, and that nothing will happen until its appointed time. For
instance, what about the explosions at the Iranian nuclear facilities
recently? They said it was an accident. Was it? Perhaps it was
meant to be in order to delay a terrible event yet to come. Who can
say? Not me.

I was listening to a tape of Doc during a trip over Christmas break.
He was reading from "Worlds In Collision", by Velikovksy. I was so
captivated that I ordered the book. Doc always talked about putting a
little "flesh and blood" on things, and not to spiritualized
everything in the Bible. Velikovsky did just that, and he shook the
foundations of Darwinism and geology when the book was published in
1950. The main theme of the book is that the world has experienced
major upheavals, and cataclisms over the eons of time which have wiped
out much of the world's population several times. These events also
made the seas boil, mountains form and disappear, rivers move, etc.,
and were caused when other celestial bodies came close to the earth.

For example, we tend to think the events described in Exodus were
isolated to that specific place, and only that group of people.
However, something of that magnitude must have been witnessed
somewhere else by other cultures. They were. In Joshua's time,
something caused the sun to "appear" to stand still in the sky longer
than usual. Again, other ancient writings of that time confirm an
unusually long day or night, depending on their location. That event
was preceded by hail mixed with fire killing more of the enemy than by
the sword. Also during the time Sennacherib's army was wiped out.
Isaiah said God would send a "blast" upon him, and gave Hezekiah a
sign by moving the shadow on the sun dial 10 degrees. Another close
encounter?

If we are to believe the Bible is the true word of God, then
Revelation Chapter 8 describes the same cosmic event as mentioned in
Exodus. In John's vision, an angel is seen tossing a smoking censer
filled with fire toward the earth (vision of a comet?). Of course, we
read on and the next verse describes hail and fire, the sun and moon
turning to blood, darkness, and so on. Notice in every case of
catastrophe, God protected His people. Let's not forget about the
story of Lot either.

Where was I? Oh, my whole point is, that God is in control, and He
will use a natural event to stall, delay, or bring about something at
an appointed time. Pay attention to those uncanny things that happen
and don't seem to make sense. I remember a few years ago, the Space
Shuttle was sitting on the launch pad and it had to be sent back to
the Vehicle Maintenance Building for repairs. What happened was, a
Woodpecker landed on top the external tank and tore out a big chunk of
insulation! I laughed out loud, because there was the highest symbol
of American technology shut down by a little bird just doing its
thing. I'm not saying God had anything to do with it, but then again,
maybe some terrible disaster was avoided on a future launch. We'll
never know.

Until then, we trust in Him, because there is nothing we can do about
the future anyway.

As an addition to my previous comment, today I was having my usual
morning coffee at Mickey Dee's, and reading Genesis 10-15. Chapter 15
had something that jumped up and bit me after having read Velikovksy's
book! It is where God promised Abram a son and that his seed would
possess all the land. He asked for a "sign" (remembering that stars
were made for signs and seasons), so he built an altar. There he laid
pieces of a sacrifice which God commanded, then he sat and waited
until sundown. Then he went into a deep sleep and had a vision:

Genesis 15:12; And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon
Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

What was this "horror of great darkness"? God spoke to Abram in a
dream concerning his people going into captivity for four
generations. Then, get this....

Genesis 15:17; And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and
it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed
between those pieces.

A smoking furnace? A burning lamp? WHAT? HUH? The concordances
refer to it like this:

(1.) Chald. attun, a large furnace with a wide open mouth, at the top
of which materials were cast in (Dan 3:22, 23; Jer 29:22). This
furnace would be in constant requisition, for the Babylonians disposed
of their dead by cremation, as did also the Accadians who invaded
Mesopotamia.

(2.) Heb. kibshan, a smelting furnace (Gen 19:28), also a lime-kiln
(Isa 33:12; Amo 2:1).

(3.) Heb. kur, a refining furnace (Pro 17:3; 27:21; Eze 22:18).

(4.) Heb. alil, a crucible; only used inPsa 12:6.

(5.) Heb. tannur, oven for baking bread (Gen 15:17; Isa 31:9;Neh
3:11). It was a large pot, narrowing towards the top. When it was
heated by a fire made within, the dough was spread over the heated
surface, and thus was baked. "A smoking furnace and a burning
lamp" (Gen 15:17), the symbol of the presence of the Almighty, passed
between the divided pieces of Abraham's sacrifice in ratification of
the covenant God made with him. (See OVEN.)

I say NAY, NAY! What would be the "horror of great darkness" about
that? There was nothing mentioned about a pot on the altar. He divided
the pieces and laid them on the altar (except the birds were not
divided...don't know why...symbolic perhaps).

Neeoowww.... let's go to Exodus 10, and compare:

10:22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was
a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.

10:23 They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for
three days; but all the Children of Israel had light in their
dwellings.

Of course all the other plagues are mentioned, water turning to blood,
fire mingled with hail, etc., which is more consistent with "horror of
great darkness".

Was Abram seeing a future catastrophe caused by a comet, or the "sign"
of what was to come after the fourth generation in a strange land?

Now lets skip forward to Revelation Chapter 8, and compare John's
vision to Exodus:

8:5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the
altar, and cast [it] into the earth: and there were voices, and
thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Is this symbolic of a comet being hurled into the earth? Look what
immediately follows; hail mixed with fire, water turning to blood,
everything in the sea dies.

8:10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from
heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of
the rivers, and upon the fountains of the waters.
(hmmm.....it kinda sounds like what Abram seen; "A smoking furnace,
and a burning lamp").

Then it goes on verse 12 to describe how the sun, moon, and stars only
shine for 1/3 of a day after Wormwood slams into the earth. Is this
because the earth is knocked off it's axis causing the days and nights
to be 8 hours in length?

Well, that's my take on it. I could be wrong. Ha!

"high-efficiency" washing machines about 18 months ago. Now the thing
is going on the blink. I called Whirlpool about it, and all they
would do is offer an extended one-year warranty for $300. I said
NOOooooooooooo......I told the guy I would just buy a regular washing
machine, and it wouldn't be a Whirlpool.
