Did I bother to tell you NOT to e-mail me about this offer? Good. You
will notice that I have tweaked my e-mail address so unless you know it,
or read one of my other posts, you will not have my e-mail address. That
means, anyone who "accidentally" e-mails me about this offer, has done
so on purpose. Anyone who e-mails me about this, won't get anything.
You'll get deleted and ignored. Keep replies about this offer on this
newsgroup, thanks. I know how to count, and if 1/10 of the regulars and
the lurkers e-mail me, my inbox will explode.
Y'all probably know me (if at all) from Gravitywell Productions. I'm a
writer over there, and over the years I've been improving my art skills
because that's an area I want to expand into. I like how my art has been
coming along, and in an effort to make super hero type leaps and bounds
with it, I've started a daily sketchbook. My only rule, is I don't draw
my own material since I fuss too hard over the production quality. So
I'm sticking to random sketches, fan art, and I said what the heck...
let me try my hand with a few commissions and see how it goes.
Free? Yes, free.
Catches? None.
Is this a trade? No, I'm just drawing you a pic since I'm nice.
Are there rules? Oh yes. Plenty.
1) Do not e-mail me about this offer.
2) No erotica, no exceptions. (no yiff, no spooge, etc.).
3) No transformations, no exceptions
4) No perverse weirdness. No exceptions.
5) Single character.
6) Must be as human in form as the characters below. So no centaurs, no
reverse legs, no full blown animal heads. Exceptions to this rule are
mermaids and nagas. Basically where the bottom half is something
somewhat abstract and cylindrical. Tails, ears and wings are legal.
7) Black and white pencil sketch. No upgrades. (No inking, no
coloring). (Sorry, you can't pay me enough to take away from the time
I've set aside to work on GWP material)
8) All you get is a scanned image. You do not get any kind of license
to reproduce my art. So no prints, no t-shirts.
9) Once it's done, it's done. Come on now, it's free. I'll take any
kind of art criticism you want to dish out, but I'm not redoing it to
specs. I might do another, but only if I feel like it.
10) NO FAN ART. I will only sketch characters you own. Your character
in someone else's universe is fine. I.E. your character is a Jedi
Knight. Yourself as a furry is alright.
11) I don't mimic styles, I draw in my own. Practice remember.
12) You must provide all reference materials. Provide links to
previously drawn images, if any, photos of their costume, what they look
like, what their story is, etc.
13) If you have a web page... The image must not be edited, the
copyright information must stay on at all times. You must also link back
and provide my name alongside the artwork.
How many are you doing? One.
Will you do more? Possibly. But only if 99.99% of everyone follows the
rules, and everyone is polite about this. It's free, there is no
obligation on my part to do any of this, I'm simply being nice and
giving something to the community. "Do not look a gift horse in the
mouth."
Who gets the pic? One skilled, not lucky, but one skilled person who
can convince me that their character is the best thing since sliced
bread, and that they are totally dedicated to making their character
into something big. You do not have to have a job "in the industry" you
do not have to "be someone," I don't even care if you don't have a web
page to show it on. Just show me your creativity and your ability to
make me as a reader, care.
I will do one of two pics. A full body pose, or a "bust" profile for
those of you that have never had your character drawn before.

Joey Smith
Character name : Natasha Volchek
Gender : Female
Height : 5'11"
Build : Athletic
Age : 35
Race : Arctic Fox
Natasha is a former agent of the KGB. She had a few bad dealings with
some corrupt members of her organization and has fled to Germany to keep
out of harm's way. She worked her way up through the organization by
following the rules and showing a ruthless will to break the spine's of
anyone who was looking to betray their mother country. Her dedication
was her downfall when she came too close to the inner drug dealings of a
higher up. When an attempted assassination failed, she was named in an
ongoing drug investigation. She has no allies, and is running out of
cash and places to hide. Although she has been contacted by foreign
agents and offered sanctuary for her information, she does not believe
she can trust in them yet, much less betray her country. She knows her
pursuers may turn up at any moment, and she is afraid. This is a time
for subtlety, not brute force... and that is not something she
understands.
Blue eyes, blonde hair, big boned, smokes, wears a worn out brown
leather jacket and some ugly green pants. Short hair, avoids sunglasses
since they're too obvious.

Natasha has a bad habit of standing near lamp posts while smoking.

<Big 'ol humongous over-sized snip>
Whatever ya go for, I hope it's something that gives you
more practice on Clothing-Fitting and over-lapping.
Your proportions and layout do weird things underneath
that standard Yerfer super-trendy clothing. Do you
even build the proportions underneath the clothing first?
I know that flatness is a standard procedure with the
Yerf/Sonic/Not-Quite-Anime style, but what if you
get started in the wrong direction and keep going that
direction? Super hero type leaps and bounds don't
come from quick monotone sketches, they come from
larger projects and the advice of experienced mentors :\
*Guffaw!* I wanna say "Now there Was a comic genius what knew sumthin
about excess!" but I can't till he kicks off <weird grimmace>

Ewww, just think about those poor animators at disney that had to
draw Ursula the SeaWitch in the Little Mermaid.

Title : Oni contemplating...?
Medium : Plain paper
Character : Oni from Stephanie Kao's work
( http://zetallis.tripod.com/ )
Stephanie's anime-waifish artwork kinda' caught my eye. It's very
simple, yet it's somewhat attractive and stylish. She should make some
t-shirts, they'd probably sell! In any case, this is one of her main
characters, Oni. I wanted a serene, semi-moody look for this pose, and
I think it came out nicely.

"Oni" is copyright 2001 Stephanie-Kao
Nothing revolutionarry, I usually color inked works only, but I decided
to give a pencil-CG one more try and... it worked =^^=;;

YOUR NAME: John A Antilety
YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME: Alexsandyr Nikolai Troutnoodler (codename:
IonOtter)
CHARACTER'S GENDER: Male
CHARACTER'S HEIGHT: 5' 9"
CHARACTER'S BUILD: medium-stocky (heavily cut)
CHARACTER'S AGE: 32
CHARACTER'S "RACE": sea/river otter/human hybrid
ONE PARAGRAPH SUMMARY OF YOUR CHARACTER
Alexsandyr Troutnoodler lives up to his Russian name, "Protector of
Men", only he doesn't discriminate by species. If you or your ship
are in trouble, Alex will be there with his Imperial Lontran Empire
Deep Space Rescue Tug, the "Salmonidae", and he will have fun doing
it! Serving with the Imperial Lontran Rescue Corp, he and his crew
have earned numerous awards for their courage and determination to
keep the space lanes safe for colonists and explorers of all types.
But such a job is not without peril. Pirates abound in the farthest
reaches of space, and Captain Troutnoodler is determined to eliminate
their reign of terror on the space lanes, but so far, it has been a
stalemate. The pirates are well organized and their ships are well
equipped, and the Rescue Corp can only be in so many places at one
time. Right now, Ion is trying to keep his normal good humor and
bright smile, but he's being haunted by the faces of the dead,
floating in the hard vaccuum of space; victims of the pirate clans.
He's getting tired, getting discouraged and wants to go home to his
mate.
ALL EXTRA DETAILS
- -----------------------------
Azure eyes, white fur, blue lightning-bolt "tattoos" on his arms,
neck and legs. His frame is heavy from his sea otter genes, but his
muscles are well toned and little body fat. He keeps his coat
spotless, going so far as to carry a small pouch of grooming items on
his belt. (A dirty coat is a wet coat is a dead otter!). Wears two
bracers, both of them highly advanced cybernetic interfaces for his
ship and other functions. They also contain microlinear railguns,
which he has SWORN to NEVER use on a living being EVER again! When
not in his hardsuit or flight coveralls (on duty), he prefers to wear
a long, red loincloth or kilt and a blue vest and sandals.

Hope you like it! I know the image has a "full animal" head, but
hey? Feel free to have fun, I'm not going to argue or look a gift
horse in the mouth. :)
