Seriously! (I figure this is on-topic 'cause it deals with an
anthrpomorphic sponge.) Boxes of Valentine's Day cards heve been
showing up at stores... with SpongeBob colored black, rather than
yellow, thus making him look like an old minstrel stereotype! Link

The rabbit hole where any use of the colour black is racist?

Some people just can't handle living without racism and have to delude
themselves into believing it's there--even where it isn't.

These cards are clearly just a printing error, you can tell by looking at
them thats exactly what happened. It didnt print the yellow layer for
spongebob

but if you think racism is non-existant in this country (U.S.) then youre
either an idiot or just not paying attention

Well, if they weren't so niggardly and had them printed in the USA instead
of China, this wouldn't have happened.

No I don't think so this time, but if you find that
one, I want explicit directions to it! =D

It seems ironic that this happens on the same month as Black History
month.

By my experiences, the best measure of the existence of racism is to
be a victim of it. Then again, when confronted with the issue, I
have always been told to grow a thick skin to the matter.

I'm still trying to grow one.

No one is denying that there may still be some stupid racist whites out there
such as the KKK. I don't like racism against blacks nor against anyone else.
However there are also many whites who are non-racists, thus it bothers me to
no end how some non-whites have this belief that every, not some, every white
man, woman, child and baby are born racist in their genes or something. It's as
stupid and untrue as the "all blacks are lazy, piggin'-out-on-watermelons
n*****s" sterotype.

that was funny! Snicker! Giggle! Snort!

Oh, wait a minute, was that supposed to be funny?? I don't see a
smiley indicating humor or sarcasm...

Oh wait, duh, I forgot, gotta grow that old thick skin. Ah, there.

Ho, haaaaahhh, now that was funny.

Actually, if you look closely, you can see the true nature of the error:
The black and yellow screens have been reversed. Thus, the border, which
should be black, is yellow, and the character and background, which should
have a significant yellow component, are rendered as black. The only reason
the eyes have black pupils is because that type of card normally shows the
background in that area.

I usually try to explain the error in logic when I encounter racism. "All
white people are not so and so"--or whatever.

Other than that, I don't try and bring attention to people's race. If
people aren't going around making point of what race people are, maybe the
issue will disappear faster. :)

Just about everything that you can buy in a Wal-Mart is made by the
lowest possble bidder, and at this point in time China has the lowest
possible costs,
cheap plentful labor, etc.
Actually Wal-Mart does so much business with China curently it should
really be called "The People's Republic of Wal-Mart".
