It's time again for the net furry survey! Now that just about everyone
who was gone over the summer is back, I'm hoping for a bigger turnout
than what I got in June. Without further ado, here are the questions,
and rules to follow:

1. Favorite currently-running series.
(For purposes of tabulation, Xanadu is not currently-running, but
Hepcats and Red Shetland are)
2. Favorite series of all time.
(This can overlap with the above, but also includes discontinued
series, limited series, and one-shots)
3. Favorite single issue of all time.
(This can overlap with 1 and/or 2. One issue only, including
graphic novels and trade PB's)
4. Favorite artist - professional.
5. Favorite artist - amateur.
(Including people who have done small amounts of professional stuff,
such as Tom Verre', Terrie Smith, and John Speidel)
6. Favorite writer.
(For comics and furry fiction. Examples would be Dwight Dutton,
Watts Martin, Jefferson Swycaffer, even Steve Gallacci. Does not
have to be just text.)
7. Favorite fanzine.
(Including prozines, such as Mythagoras and the upcoming Furkindred)
8. Favorite character.
(Such as Erma Felna, Omaha, Red Shetland, and Don Karnage)
9. The one furry item I am looking forward to the most in the future is:
(Well, three...see rules below)
10. Any other comments you would like to make?

Rules:

a. Responses are for furry titles only. This includes questionable/
borderline furry titles as well, such as Eye of Mongombo, Hepcats,
Howard the Duck, Animal Man, even Cerebus. As for your definition of
what is furry and what is not - at your discretion.
b. Last time I allowed as many responses per question as you wanted.
THIS TIME, PLEASE LIMIT YOUR REPLIES TO ONLY THREE ANSWERS PER NUMBERED
QUESTION. If you have only one or two, that's okay. If you have more,
the first three will be taken, and the rest discarded.
c. If you cannot answer a question, go ahead and leave it blank. You
don't have to answer every question.
d. Send replies either to me, or the discussion list. Either way, I'll
get 'em. Personally, I think sending them to the list is more
interesting - it shows everyone what you like, and promotes discussion.
e. Extraneous comments are encouraged.
f. If you do not want your answers spread all over the net, send your replies
to me by private email, and let me know you want to remain anonymous.
g. If you have a question as to what is appropriate and what is not, or
if X fits into category Y, use your own judgement as to what to do.
h. I'll accept replies through midnight October 23, 1991. After that,
you're free to reply, but it won't be counted in the final results.

Okay, okay, enough rules already! If there are any other questions,
just ask!

I've misplaced the results from June's survey, but the results were
predictable. Albedo/Gallacci/Erma Felna was the overwhelming
favorite, with Xanadu/Vicky Wyman a notable second. Yarf! and ECP
were also mentioned, as were Monika Livingston, Omaha, Red Shetland,
Usagi Yojimbo.

Hope to hear from everyone soon! The bigger the turnout, the more
relevant the results!

>1. Favorite currently-running series.

Cerebus (Well the little guy certainly isn't human, even if the rest
of the cast are)

Familien Gnuff ( Danish series by Freddy Milton. I think part of this
series was published in Critters, but I don't know what it's name was.
The main characters are some green dragons.)

Tales of the Beanworld (I'm not sure if these guys are animals, but
they certainly aren't human)

>2. Favorite series of all time.

Walt Disney Comics and Stories (When the old master was doing it. I
also like the new stories that Don Rosa makes.)

Pogo (Newspaper strip by Walt Kelly.)

Krazy Kat (Yeah, I DO prefer newspaper strips to comics, mostly
because they have higher standards.)

>3. Favorite single issue of all time.

Mickey Mouse 'The Phantom Blot' series by Gottfredson.
Donald duck 'Lost in the Andes'
Cerebus 'Jaka's Story'

>4. Favorite artist - professional.

Floyd Gottfredson (actually these also belong under 6, and vice versa)
George Herriman
Freddy Milton

>5. Favorite artist - amateur.

>6. Favorite writer.

Carl Barks
Dave Sim
Walt Kelly

>7. Favorite fanzine.

alt.fan.furry (the only one I read)

>8. Favorite character.

Mickey Mouse ( The 'Real' one from 1930-1940, not the ghost that keeps
hanging around today.)

Donald duck (Bark's version. i also likes the one from the early
movies, and the first dailies.)

Krazy Kat (Probably one of the first 'furry' comics.)

>9. The one furry item I am looking forward to the most in the future is:

Marvel going bankrupt.
More good furry series.
A steady (maybe even monthly :-) furry comic.

(We actually have a good monthly furry in Norway in Donald Duck & Co.
This weekly comic has a Barks reprint once a month, and a Don Rosa
story , new or Gladstone reprint, about once a month. There is never a
Barks story and a Rosa story in the same comic. I buy the Rosa
issues, no Barks since I've read them all. The rest of the comic is
of cource just a piece of s**t.)

>10. Any other comments you would like to make?

Honourable mention to:
Footrot Flats,Hepcats, Albedo, Usagi Yojimbo and Omaha ( and all the comics I
couldn't remember, or didn't want to mention because nobody of you
have heard of them. Like Mumin, Canardo and Cubitus. Well maybe
you've heard of Canardo :-)

>1. Favorite currently-running series.

Albedo Anthropomorphics! Finally, Steve has gotten off his butt and
is telling his damned fine tale again.

Rhuddipurrt.
Cerebus.

>2. Favorite series of all time.

Omaha the Cat Dancer!

>3. Favorite single issue of all time.

XXXenophile five... The first story is _good_ fur!

>4. Favorite artist - professional.

Hmm, this is a tough one. I'm still fond of Reed Waller. Leave it
at that.

>5. Favorite artist - amateur.

If I can't nominate Lela Dowling, make it Ken Sample.

>6. Favorite writer.

Me! (I've got to have an ego, right?)

>7. Favorite fanzine.

Alt.Fan.Furry. At first, I was going to Nominate YARF or
Everchanging Palace since they're among the few I've ever managed to
get my hands on, but A.F.F. is where I get my concurrent information.

>8. Favorite character.

Shees, part of the assumption for this one is we're looking for a
character from a _graphic_ source, such as a comic book or fanzine; If
I had to choose a favorite furry character, I'd have to choose Pyanfar
Chanur, because _she_ sent me down the road to furridom. And she had
one thing over all of Niven's creations [ :-) ] in that she was both
sexy and horny.

>9. The one furry item I am looking forward to the most in the future is:

The coming of Empires! from Antarica Press. (I'd say the
publication of the Journal Entries, but...). Also, Paul Kidd's getting
published, and my first Confurence!

>10. Any other comments you would like to make?

More Fur on Love Boat! Glorious is a country where I, the little
fellow, can offer grand insights into the will of the people! This has
been Lufur H. Elfgrass! Thank you, and Good Night!

Elf !!!
