Greets, furs. Just running a repost of my article on the Fire & Fur
APA. Right now, members and interested furries number 15. So we still
have room! Read on for the details and check the other post "REPOST:
Fire & Fur Specifics". Take care and hope to see some new faces!

-------------
Greets, furries. Just popping onto a.f.f. to pitch a project to all you
furry artists and writers, amateur and pro alike. Last year, a new
APAzine was presented called Fire & Fur, a project put on by DieHard
Studio. It consisted of a 25 member roster of artists and/or writers
who would send in works to the editor who would then compile it, edit
it, and add covers and all then send it back out to the membership.
Yes, F&F was a closed circulation publication. Each artist/writer was
expected to give commentary and criticism so that each of the artisans
could gain insight to improve their craft. Well, F&F, after making it
to issue #3, was put on the shelf for various reasons.

Now, in 1996, Knechtschaft Studio, by permission of DieHard Studio, is
assuming the publication of Fire & Fur APAzine, bringing back to life.
I myself will be assuming the editorship of the APAzine beginning with
issue #4 which is even now in the works.

"So what is this thing?"

Fire & Fur is a APAzine with a limited membership of no more than 25
furs. It is also a closed circulated book which means that only enough
copies are made for the members only and are not available to the
public.

"What? So what good is it?"

Fire & Fur is a tool which I desire to offer to those artists and/or
writers out there who are looking for a roundtable-style format to
display their works and gain insightful commentary and critique on
their style, technique, and so on. That is the goal I'd like to see
happen.

"Hummm...well, who would be considered for membership?"

Any artist, writer, or writer/artist is welcome as long as there is
evidence of ability, especially so in regards to you artists. Ack! I
know that sounds pretty tough. But the basics need to be known since
from there, there is a basis and foundation to work from.

"You said something about a limit as to how many members there are."

Right. Fire & Fur's membership roster is limited to 25. The main reason
is to try and ease the task of responding with commentary and also
keeping the publication itself from being too big.

"Alright, how does this APAzine thing work?"

Each artist and/or writer is responsible for their section of the
'zine. Page length can be from one illustration to perhaps a eight to
ten page short story or more. It really boils down to how many members
there are which would set the limit. All submissions must be in by the
deadline, with perhaps a grace day or two. Fire & Fur will attempt to
be a three or four times a year publication. Once you have completed
your submission, you must xerox enough copies of it for the current
membership roll. And the copies must be front-and-back to help keep the
'zine's size down ( a staple can only go thru so much <grin>). These
copies are then mailed to myself, the editor, along with $3.00 to
handle the postage and mailer for me to send you back the compiled
'zine. I take all the submissions, assemble them, add my contribs, and
flesh it all out and send it back to you. If you so desire, there will
be a section devoted to your addresses and or anything you may have to
offer sales-wise. It is my hope that the members will respond to each
others works and give advice, comments, etc so that styles and
techniques can be improved upon.

"That'll work...so how do I get in on it?"

Easy to do. If you are interested in becoming a Fire & Fur member, all
you need to do is drop an Email to either this address or my other one
Pel...@aol.com and I'll fill you in. If you have any other questions,
by all means drop me a line. And if you know a artist or writer but
they have no Internet or on-line service capability, have him or her
write to me at:

Knechtschaft Studio
2823 Chestnut Street
New Orleans, LA 70115
Attn: Fire & Fur

Again, I want Fire & Fur to be the tool with which to assist the furry
arts, both graphically and in literature.

TCASF ( and hope to hear from you soon),
