Wallace & Gromit, The East Enders, Dr. Who... all golden oldies; the
equivalent here would be Laugh-In, Dallas and Six Million Dollar Man
the most popular shows on Dec 25 2008

It's 'Eastenders', *never* 'The East Enders'; that would be like me
referring to a certain Kryptonian superhero as 'The Super Man'. :-)

Well, at least I didn't say "Coro Nation Street"...

Didn't notice a new W&G came out. Don't have long to see it thanks to
BitTorrent either. :-)

This new short was fun but formulaic, I felt -- 3rd time in a row
(after 'Close Shave' and 'Were-Rabbit') that Wallace has become
besotted with an unsuitable woman. My favourite W&G remains 'The Wrong
Trousers'. ("They're the wrong trousers Gromit, and they've gone
wrong!" :-)

Yaknow, with the yearly Doctor Who Xmas specials, I wish BBC would get a
clue and commission a Wallace & Gromit spoof of Doctor Who.

You know you want it.;)

Oh man, that is sheer genius - somebody tell the BBC, quick. (Wallace
builds a time/space machine, and 'hilarity ensues'...

They'd have to have a scene with them watching the dustbins 'from
behind the sofa,' which was the traditional way for kids to watch Dr.
Who (or so I've heard).

Of course, what would add to the silliness factor a bit would be for Wallace
to dress like the Tom Baker Doctor, and Gromit as K-9.

Of course, it would also be wayyyyy funnier to have W&G accidentally hijack
the TARDIS.

He thinks it's an actual police call box & steps in to make a call...?

Yep, that was my idea, "Gromit, we've got to call the police! What luck,
there's a box!", "Well, this is certainly a complicated telephone, lets see
if this switch does something. Hello? Hello? I'd like to report some very
cross dustbins on the rampage. Hello?" *WooorpWooorpWooorp*

Meanwhile, The Doctor shows up where the TARDIS was parked, "Hmmm, I could
have sworn I left it here. Oh 'eck!" "Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!"

And there could also be a comedy relief romance between a Cyberman and The

Cyberman calling after the Trousers marching away: "Come back - I love
you!"

I don't want to be a total Dr. Who geek here, but W & G need both the
doctor, and the "key" (which is bound to the doctor) to enter the
TARDIS. The TARDIS itself has special security protocols to prevent
anyone from just wandering in and going for a ride.

Unless... "It's the wrong TARDIS Gromit, and it's gone wrong!"

My guess: Gromit's dog-tag will work as the TARDIS key.

Besides, a public call does not involve going into the box. The "free for
use by public" phone is accessed from the outside, the inside stored some
basic equipment and could also serve as a temporary detention cell.

Those security protocols worked wonders when Rose cracked the vortex open to
save the Doctor. Nyah nyah.

But then again, it's already been demonstrated that the TARDIS itself has a
certain measure of sentience, so who's to say it doesn't also have a sense
of humor?

If you have watched enough shows, you know it does.

Who has been watching long long before ROBOT.

But wasn't Rose a "companion"? The TARDIS does seem to be flexible in
that regard. If you're with the doctor, you get in and are allowed
some control.

I could see the TARDIS wanting to take a holiday just for the hell of
it. "If a man and his dog (you could certainly argue that W & G are
"companions") walk in here, I'm going to Disneyland!" ;-)

Well, it DOES have a tendacy now to drop The Doctor onto Earth every Xmas,
FNAR. Every time it does, something horrible happens. One could argue the
TARDIS has a lick of sadism to it as well.
