ALBANY ANTHROCON
July 3-6, 1997
1997 MOREAU AWARDS

Moreau Awards-Revised Rules and Nomination Form

The Moreau Awards for Excellence in Anthropomorphics will be presented
during the Albany Anthrocon, July 3-6, 1997. Nominations for the awards
will be open until May 31, 1997.

RULES:

1. Nominations for the Moreau Awards would, similarly to the Worldcon
Hugo awards, normally be made by Albany Anthrocon's previous attendees.
Since this is the first year for AAC and the Moreaus, nominations have
been opened to the anthropomorphic community at large. Copies of this
nomination form are available for distribution by any other convention,
should they so choose. In addition, copies of these rules will be
available over the Internet via the AAC website
(http://www.wizvax.net/aac/text/moreau.html) or via Email
(mor...@wizvax.net).

2. Nominations may be made via email to mor...@wizvax.net; please
include MOREAU: in the header with your votes. If you wish to use
regular mail, please print out a copy of the nomination form and send it
to:

3. Nomination Guidelines:

a. All entries must be postmarked or timestamped no later than 11:59 pm,
Saturday, May 31, 1997. Entries after that time will not be accepted.

b. Nominees need not be present to win, although, obviously, it would be
nice if they were. Winners who are not present will have their awards
mailed to them.

c. While it is not necessary, it would be appreciated if nominations are
accompanied by contact information. The Nomination Committee reserves
the right to disqualify any nomination for which it is unable to
ascertain contact information.

d. Up to three nominations per category will be accepted. If more than
three per category are submitted, the Nomination Committee will only
count the first three nominations.

e. If you do not have a nomination for a specific category, feel free to
answer 'No Choice'.

f. The top five votegetters in each category will be on the final written
ballot, to be distributed at AAC and voted on by registered AAC
attendees. 'No Choice' will be a selection in each category.

4: Categories

a. Best Furry Artist:
The 'Best Furry Artist' award is for sculpture artists and 2-D artists,
excluding comic book artists. This award includes computer-generated 2-D
art and photographs.

b. Best Furry Comic Artist:
The 'Best Furry Comic Artist' award is for artists who create comic books
and/or cartoons.

c. Best Furry Alternative Artist:
The 'Best Furry Alternative Artist' award is for any person who has
created artwork with an anthropomorphic theme which falls under no other
category. Costuming, puppetry, music, dance, film making, non-computer
animation, radio broadcasts, television broadcasts, and genetically
engineered creatures fall under this award.

d. Best Furry Writer:
The 'Best Furry Writer' award is for writers, including comic book
writers and poets. A work of any length, from short story to novel, may
be considered, if at least one main character is anthropomorphic, or the
work as a whole deals with anthropomorphic themes.

e. Best Furry Publisher:
The 'Best Furry Publisher' award is for publishers of a magazine where at
least half of the articles have a major anthropomorphic character.

f. Best Furry Work:
The 'Best Furry Work' award is for individual magazines, issues of
magazines, individual stories or serial stories having anthropomorphic
characters and/or themes. Text, comic, motion picture and television
stories are eligible for this award. The work must have appeared prior
to May 31, 1997.

g. Best Computer-related Work:
The 'Best Computer-related Work' award is for the creators of works where
the computer is an essential part. This award excludes computer-generated
art itself (which falls under 'Best Furry Artist') and virtual worlds
(which has its own category), but it includes programs, computer games,
Web pages, computer-generated animation, and any other work where the
computer is essential.

h. Best Furry Virtual Environment:
The 'Best Furry Virtual Environment' award is for virtual worlds (for
example, MU*s), chat zones, BBS's, computer networks (for example,
FurNet), and places within those virtual environments.

i. Best of Breed:
The 'Best of Breed' award is for those who have done the most for furry
fandom as a community. These include those who put on conventions, who
generate positive publicity, who support virtual worlds, or who donate to
furry artists. It is our Furry Lifetime Achievement Award, and it should
be nominated for someone who is considered to have reached a pinnacle of
achievement. No one may win this award twice.

5. All decisions by the Nomination Committee are final. Anybody
disagreeing with the Nominating Committee are invited to avail themselves
of free tickets to see the Chaplain (conveniently located in the hotel
lobby under the third planter from the left).
