And don't give me any bullshit about "oh, but that's the exact same
argument people have against homosexuality!". Shit, the more I look at this
fandom, the more normal and acceptable homosexuality's looking in
comparison to a lot of the other hangups here. At least in gay
relationships both partners are capable of loving each other. (You think
that dog Joe Zooie just screwed is capable of actually *loving* Joe back?
Fine. Prove it.)
I'm sick of having to defend my views on that issue. Sick of having to
justify why I don't like Terrie Smith's work (because when I first came
into the fandom and got spoiled right away with Sonny Windstrup and Abe
Groter, and personally after them, there's only one place to go and that's
down... *that's* why). Sick of having to explain my musical tastes (no,
dumbass, there actually is some rap music that ISN'T about killing people
or doing drugs!). Sick of the whole 'freak out the mundanes' bullshit
(funny how the tables turn when you're the one on the receiving end of the
outfreakage, huh fanboy?).
Right about now (the funk soul bro- uh, sorry) I'd like to drop a quote by
Steve Martin- I mean the Steve Martin that is known not merely in the minds
of 200 greasy fanboys; the one who's actually funny: "I'M SORRY- BUT I AM
ANGRY!"
"SO LEAVE, THEN." Oh, you'd *love* that.
Sure, I'll leave a.f.f. It's almost been a sort of Ludovico treatment,
twisting around my psyche with my eyeballs forced open and Ludwig Van
cranked up to 11 'til I get to the point where any mention of the word
"vixen" sends me gagging to the floor of my Pee and Em's mod-stylee flat.
But I'm staying in whatever community of friends I've run across. I'm
staying because of Eric, Sully, Squee, Amara, kobus, Japhet, Rackety, Jason
Furness, Sara Palmer, Kyle Wallpe, Jimmy Chin, Gene/Albert, Snoo, Brian
Root (obnoxious as he's been), Ken Fletcher (even if I've been too lazy to
write him back thanking him for all the cool Spontoon stuff he sent me) and
any of the six dozen or so people I'm too tired to type the names of (plus
I got a concert to see in just over two hours- Meat Beat Manifesto. Ooo,
how apropos). I'm staying in the mindframe that I had when I came across
the fandom- namely that I Wanna Draw Fuzzy Critters (inn't that a long-lost
Ramones b-side?) and possibly make a career out of it (whether it pays me
an assload or not). I'm staying on FurryMUCK, one of the only places I can
talk to a friend when I got a problem with the fandom. (Of course, all my
other problems I foist upon my non-fan friends. Yeah, I have some of those.
Wikkid, huh?) As far as I'm concerned, those of you who whine about my
stances against dogfucking, plushiewanking and low-ass standards of
art/writing/etc. only exist to be complete and utter wankers who want to
make me feel like shit. And you know what? If you make me feel like shit, I
have let you triumph.
Well, sorry- you lose. No extra lives, no bonuses, no entering your
initials. You're out of quarters, the joystick's broken and some beavis in
a Guns and Roses t-shirt is itching to shove you aside and play the machine
himself, "Out of Order" sign or no. Video games rot your brain anyways.

Why do you *have* to explain your musical tastes? Nobody should ever
feel they *must* defend their tastes, in art, music, books, etc.
If you've ever felt somehow picked on because some dopey person didn't
understand the music you like, well, they can jolly well stow it, yes?
We need all the possible artistic influences/inspirations we can get
around here, as a defense against the dreary descent into cliche that's
currently afflicting this very mottled crew we call furry fandom. I'm
behind you all the way, whatever you do, beacuse your determination
to do something actually interesting and different and to call it as you
see it really is an inspiration to us. Yes, really.
As far as I'm concerned it's terrific you don't like Terrie Smith,
terrific you like rap. And, you're free to come and go, or talk like

Excuse me, but by no means was the quitessential Snagglepuss exit a '1'. You
have to hear it outside of its natural habitat, though. I remember seeing a
theatre performance a few years back called 'Coyote Speaks', in which one man
told the native American legends of Coyote, and did so with distinctive voices
for each characters. For instance, he did Skunk with a drop-dead perfect
Godfather impersonation (Every man's got a racket..), and the mountain lion
was.. yeah, Snagglepuss.

Well, hey, that's a great way to go through life, sir. That way, you don't
really have to listen to anybody!
