unci's introduction to the list
i made this list for furrys who would like to have a portrait of their
character and wonder whom to ask .
i have only included artists who want to be on this list . i have not
included those who have pictures on avatar.snc.edu but are not
currently able to do character portraits (no time) .
to contact the artist, you can either page the character that i have
listed under `furrymuck name' or send `e-mail' to the listed address .
i have sorted the list by furrymuck names, and listed those without
furrymuck characters at the end . some have given me a `postal
address' .
some artists are especially good at some things, or refuse to do
others, I have listed this under `preferences' . there is a wide
variety of `techniques' : a common style is pencil or ink drawing, but
there is also color pencil, watercolor, computer-colored drawing, or
even raytracing .
if you want to see whether you like the style of an artist or not (and
it is advised to do that before you ask them), you can download the
picture that i have listed under `example' from avatar.snc.edu (or
another ftp site, as indicated) . these are pictures of which the
artists think that they represent best their style . you can also have
a look at the `publications' that have printed works of the artist .
some artists take money, others don't - if they do, I have listed
their tariff under `money', so that you can decide how much money (if
any) you want to spend .
some artists don't want their work to be distributed without their
assent, so you should ask them before you upload or otherwise spread
files or copies, even if it is your character on the pictures . some
even object against scanning their art . others don't give away the
originals, and you can only get a scanned file from them .

Technique:
For black and white stuff I use either a brush and technical
pen, though I'll use just about anything, including sponges and
paper towel if it gives the right effect.
Full colour work I do with an airbrush on illustration board,
supplemented with brushwork and coloured pencils. I've also
worked with watercolour and acrylic.
I also sculpt. I've released one resin kit and am working on
another. I've also tried a bronze cast, if you're feeling
adventurous.
Preferences:
I'll do cheesecake a la Vargas or Olivia. Nudity is fine, but
nudity with class. My own preferences run to hard SF with lots
of techie stuff, but I have done Fantasy/Sword & sorcery type
art and am always up for a challenge.
Publications:
In addition to work for local Cons, I've had stuff in YARF, The
Confurence Program Book (3-6), Beauty of the Beasts #2 (MU),
"The Butterfly Effect" in Take Off #1, "Zaibatsu Tears" in
Furrlough #21, 22 and 24, and the hbox art, as well as card
art, for the cyberpunk boardgame "Edge City". I have signed and
numbered laserprints available of the Furrlough #21 cover
available at $20 each, and I am working on a resin figure of
Pi, the main character from "Zaibatsu Tears".
I have some new items for sale. I have an airbrush painting of
a fox in a kimono available as a 11"x17" poster for $10.00. I'm
offering the cover art for Furrlough #21 as a 11"x17" colour
poster also for $10.00. Posters are shipped in a mailing tube,
and there is a $3.00 handling charge per order, not per poster.
Money:
Depends on the individual project. Payment is usually in
advance, though on large projects we can arrange something.

Preferences:
I can do the figure quite well. I'm good at drawing
real/cartoony hands, faces and expressive poses. My 'pomorphs
are out of proportion (which I do on purpose, unless you want
me to draw them on a perfectly proportioned human body, which I
can do if you really want me to). I'm not into erotica at all,
but if you want, I'll give it a try. Tell me what you want
first. I might turn you down, though. If I actually do a sexual
one, it would be more ``romantic erotica'' rather than straight
spooge, if that makes sense to you at all. I like sci-fi stuff,
too.
Technique:
Pencils, inks, colored pencils, color chalk pastels.
Note:
I'll send sample copies to you if you send me an SASE. Ask for
my mailing address. If I'm in the mood, (or if you give me a
really cool letter) I'll throw in a free original!
I won't be available during summer breaks unless you send me
correspondence through the mail saying you still want contact
with snail mail! This is tentative.
Money:
If you want, get yourself a free sample. If you like it, then
we can talk prices, but I won't charge very high, anyway (no
higher than $10). Price will go up slightly with color. Plus, I
usually like throwing in free stuff, pre-production sketches
and little tidbits, when I send out stuff like this. If you're
upset with it, we can arrange a refund if you like, just send
it on back!
Publications:
No GIFs or binaries anywhere. My work can be seen in the APA
``FIRE and FUR'', hopefully upcoming graphic story in Foxy's
``Anthropomorphine'', and very tentatively in a new fanzine
from Richmond, Va. called, surpisingly enough, ``FANZINE'. I
also displayed some work at ConFurence 6. ``One Night at the
Underground Café'' and ``Awakenings'' seemed to be popular with
some people, I understand.
If you haven't seen any of that stuff, my style is heavily
influenced by Walt Kelly, Disney, Warner Bros., Bluth, Japanese
anime, and some personal style thrown in, if you can imagine a
combination of all that. I think you'll like it - gimme a try!

Preferences:
Well, I'll draw most anything ranging from Cute/Cartoony to
Realistic, from furry to human to alien to...well, make a
request. The worst I can do is refuse if I haven't the time or
if the work distasteful to me, and that won't cost you a thing.
All I ask is that you tell me as much as you can about what you
want, including subject, media, paper type (if you have a
preference) and paper size. If you want me to draw a specific
character, please send me a picture to use for reference if one
is available.
Technique:
I usually work in pencil and/or ink, and sometimes in color
pencil, but color comissions will come later. For now, I'll
stick to pencil and ink (until I can work out a schedule for
myself). As I am a strict perfectionist (terrible habit, I
DON'T reccommend it!), my finished work is very clean.
Money:
I will quote a price according to the unique specifications for
the work. I'd like you to have a pretty good idea of the work
you will recieve before the price is even mentioned. Prices
will probably start at $5. (I am quite new to commissions so,
at the moment, I guess prices will be a little flexible) Here,
however, are some general guidelines:
+ Uninked pencil sketches, I guess, will be the most
inexpensive.
+ Inked and finished pencil drawings will be a little more.
+ So will 'sculpted' drawings (by sculpted I mean shaded
three-dimensionally as in nb_tasker.gif). Sculpted MAY end up
being a little more than inked.
+ Drawings which are inked and then shaded in pencil, such as
nb_smuj.gif (not the best example, as smudge is only lightly
shaded, but you get the idea), will end up costing a little
more.

Preferences:
I'm fairly new to commissions, so I'd prefer to be e-mailed
with a description of what you want drawn, and I'll respond
after I've given in a few shots (usually 24hrs. or less) to let
you know if I'm going to be able to do it. I prefer to do
single character, simple pose stuff. I'll give anything short
of X-rated stuff a try. (Ask me if you have a piece involving
nudity or sexual suggestion beyond playful flirtation - I might
take it, I might not.)
Technique:
Usually I do high-contrast inked pieces. I will leave it in the
pencil stage if you prefer, though. I don't do color, mostly
because I have no experience with it and don't feel confident
enough to distribute color pieces.

School of Art, and studied animation there. Most of my style is
self-taught.

technical pen or brush, and color with Prismacolor pencils.

I love to draw both Furry and Terran foxes and wolves.
Raccoons, muslids, and skunks are also within my abilities. I
will do any image that is tasteful, dramatic, and/or contains a
powerful/knowlageable message. I change my drawing style often,
all the way from high detailed sketches to simple animation
grade images... whatever fits the "atmosphere" of that image.
Technique:
I have a slight "new age euro" style with my sketches, however
my style more often changes with the overall "mood" of the
image in question, therefore each image I create is drastically
different. My signature style can often be found in how I draw
the eyes. I started furry drawings around June of 1995, but I
have worked with CAD and imagers since 1988.

will look either silly or neurotic, if I do a good job.
Currently toying with an irregular, net-published cartoon
series about Mudding and furries called "Muckraking," which
exists on Avatar as a very slowly growing list of files, all
called `mukrak*.gif'.
Technique:
My better drawings are simple, inked line drawings, often
scanned and computer-colored. My style's been described as
minimalistic and frantic. Someone once compared my stuff to
James Thurber's, and that made me happy.

Biography:
I am an art student at California State University of
Northridge (CSUN). I'm currently studying Illustration, with an
emphasis on animation. I plan to eventually work at Disney, in
the feature animation dept.
I have a fascination with `anthropomorphics' that dates back to
when I was a kid. I have always liked the old Warner/Disney
cartoons that used `Funny animal' characters. I'm not sure why,
but prehaps reason was that it was ok to blow up or crush an
anthropomorphic character, than to have cartoony human, cut to
pieces. Not to say that I go out and try and torture little
forest animals now that I am an adult, but it still fun to
recreate the kind of slapstick mayhem that exists in Furry Muck
and in the animation universe.
Preferences:
I don't do any erotic type of art, so please don't ask. My
schedule varies from week to week partly due to my animation
work and the fact that I still play football for my college. So
please don't be too put back if I have to deny your request for
me to do your illustration.

piece. To give you an idea of what I might charge, it would
cost you approx. 75 - 90 US dollars for me to give you a piece

other side of the spectrum I would probably only charge 3 - 5
US dollars for a piece like `the Dorm'.

Preferences:
I will paint or draw just about anything having to do with
animals or furries including erotic art. Simple portraits to
sofa sized landscapes, whatever. I'm very open minded about
subject matter with two exceptions; Cub/child porn and
violence. I reserve the right to refuse proposals I find
offensive.
Technique:
pencil, pastel and watercolor. I work in both natural/realistic
and cartoon styles. I also do sculpture large and small but,
due to studio space limitations, right now I'm restricted to
small figurines. Most of my sculpture is handcrafted from
earthenware clay which is kiln fired then, airbrush painted.
Money:
prices vary greatly depending on complexity; from $20 for a
simple 9"*12" (22.9cm*30.5cm) character study to several
hundred dollars for a large complex watercolor. If you want a
painting with lots of characters and action, it will cost more.
If you want something done in cartoon style or simple portraits
it will cost less. Base price for a 6 inch tall sculpture run
around $35.00. Prices will vary depending on size and
complexity.

Technique:
I use various mediums from pencil (relatively inexpensive) to
full blown airbrush (Now we're talking 3 figures!!) ;). I also
can do anything inbetween. Ink, color pencil, watercolor,
canvas work, etc.
Examples:
To my knowledge, I do not have anything in the cyber-medium in
the way of GIFS and other files. I am considering it with
someone I know, however, that will be down the line.
Publications:
I put out a few of my own publications, FOXTAILZ being my most
popular. My latest is FOXTAILZ III - The Risque/Rave Issue,
which are going for US$10.00 each, and I also have a few copies
of FOXTAILZ II-The Menu going for US$12.00 each. There is also
the 1995 FOXTAILZ Calendar going for US$10.00 each. As they
say, supplies are limited; these zines are going fast!!
I've also done some inking for Rip Off Press, Kitchen Sink, and
Fantagraphics. I've done an installment in Antarctic Press'
Furrlough #23 ``Blazin' Charlotte'', and I hope to do more
projects for AP in the future.
Other zines include: Brian Yelverton's Bunny Pages, Richard
Chandler's Gallery, Tygger and Dean Graf's Boudoir ... and a
host of other fanzine and comic book publications.
Money:
I accept US currency only, either money orders or foreign money
orders made out in US dollars. I will take checks as well. I
take all monies up front before committing to a project. Make

FYI: I will not do mechanicals for personal reasons, and the
use of white paint will be considered a color, so think your
character through before we make an agreement. I use 9"*11"
(22.9cm*36.4cm) Bristol board, acid-free only. Do not send me
sketchbooks! The use of commercial artboard is an additional
US$10.00. If you have something in mind that could require the
use of airbrush, contact me first before we commit to anything
- in this case, preliminary sketches will be considered, and
charged accordingly. ;)

to most furry stuff around, and I can do more than just furry.
I do nice, clean linework and occasionally graded pencils, but
only if I am in a graded pencil kinda mood., I also do colour
sketches.
Money:
I am taking commissions, I don't do erotica at all. As payment
I ask for postage and/or money and other material perks (Shanda
the Panda Back issues will get you artwork, as will computer
odds and ends and, if you live close enought to me, food is a
good one.) I ask, if its just cash, $15 US, 5 for postage and
10 for the art. With this you get photocopies of stuff I
haven't scanned as well. This price is negotiable and it also
depends on how much stuff you want.
Publications:
My art has appeared in South Fur Lands #2 and #3 and Anime
Australia #1 and #2. It will be appearing in both of these
publications for as long as I can keep churning out artwork.

The examples above should give you a good idea what I like to
draw. Nudes and 'light' erotica are okay. No hardcore spoogery.
I prefer one character 'pin-up' or brief background illos, but
I am not limited to that. My work is done with mostly technical
pen on acid-free bristol board. Color work is outlined with
tech pen and colored with liquid acrylic and colored pencils.
If in doubt the best thing to do is email with your idea and we
can discuss it.
Note:
I am not a fast artist. I am trying to improve but believe that
I can do a better drawing if I take my time and relax with it
rather than stressing out over it. Because of this I do limit
the number of commissions I'll take at any given time.

Preferences:
Will draw, or attempt to draw, just about any pose. Best at
single-character poses, without chains or buckles or little
fiddly bits (except horses in tack). Specialties are canines
and equines, especially 'taurs, and especially females. Humor
is an easily negotiated bonus. (note: I don't put backgrounds
in pictures unless you specifically request one.) Most pics are
around 9x12 (inches!).
I work with pencil and good ink outlinking pen for B&W
pictures, and will colour with either coloured pencils or
markers (according to customer preference) on a colour pose.
Pictures will usually be completed and mailed within a month.
Money:
Depends on the subject. For a standard, B&W, single-character
pose, $10, $15 colour. You receive the original, mailed in
something sturdy to keep it flat, and the rights to scan and
reproduce it as you see fit (with appropriate notes as to the
artist, please!!! :) If the picture doesn't work, "won't draw",
or gives you an extra arm or three, tis free. I'll pay for
shipping.
