I suspect it's a lot older than that!

Congrats ZF, where ever you are in orbit. And thank you Dr. Scialli
for rallying the necessary support in a then not-so-much internet
world - a name to this asteroid now offiicially called zappafrank.
Without your supreme efforts this wouldn't have happened. No dispute.

Thanks for the reminder, and, for initially making the naming of it
happen.

And on 28 Dec 2008, we'll celebrate the 30th anniversary of T.R.
Roberts giving the New Zealand slender mudshark (oops, sorry! that
should read mud skipper) the scientific name Zappa confluentus.
See the citation of Roberts' original paper in the Catalog of Fishes:
http://research.calacademy.org/research/ichthyology/catalog/getref.asp?ID=8886
and (from Fishbase):
New Guinea, not New Zealand. My bad.
Oddly enough, (3834) Zappafrank's next perihelion(*) will
occur on December 21st, this year.

The choice of this minor planet, with this particular orbit
was intentional? Or it is just another indication that the
Eons Are Closing?
(*) perihelion = the point in the orbit of a planet, asteroid or comet
where it is nearest to the sun.

And royalty checks are due to come in that day too!
