The Grateful Dead and the Fugs played the Acid tests!

Frank And the Mothers did not.

The Acid Tests happened in San Francisco not L.A.

I don't have the Wolfe book handy, maybe I will dig it out.

As I remember it from Wolfe's book the only people who played during
the early Acid Tests were members of the Pranksters in a make-shift
type band and the Dead, occasionally at opposite ends of the hall
simultaneously. There was a later ('66 or '67) Test in South L.A,
while Kesey was on the run in Mexico.

The only connection with the Fugs, as far as I know, was them stopping
by at Kesey's place in La Honda with Allen Ginsberg. The only Mothers
reference I recall was some type of put-down. Been a while since I
read the book, so I could be wrong on a few points.

C'mon, can you really imagine Frank agreeing to let the Mothers play with a
load of wasted hippies jamming on blues chords for 3 hours? All this
bullshit about how great acid is. Look what Frank achieved without drugs!

I've had acid but it just made me laugh 'till my eyes nearly popped out.
Didn't make me wanna tighten my headband while playing a guitar solo
though...

Maybe there was too much radiation, coming from the
ICBM's (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) secretly located
under the Zappa household.

Perhaps murder was the case, for Zappa, from exposure to DOD's
inventory.

I have a film produced by Key-Z productions "The Acid Tests" it has the
Grateful Dead and the Fugs playing at an Acid Test afterward Jerry Garcia
sweeps the floor.

The Fugs play the "Crystals Forming" song sorry I don't know the title and
the footage does match the film, yet it gives an accurate representation of
what occured.

Key-Z productions is owned by Ken Kesey's son.

Coffee (caffene)
Winstons (nicotine)
are drugs, I believe.

Caffene destroys the Vitamin B-1 that is in your body.....which in turn makes a
person cranky & irritable. Maybe this was a contributing factor in Frank's
cynical personality.

Where can I get that? (please, no Kansas or hardware store jokes...)

Was Frank cynical?

Think about it. Are you living in a real world or a dreamworld?
There are things to make fun of, because they scream for it. Some things
just stink. It doesen't makes you cynical because you think it is goofy
and write a song about it. It's just natural. And...since people
react...well, why care? It's super. It's natural.

Well, people are okay!

Sorry to reply to my own post, but what the fuck? King Kong - jamming over
blues chords? It's in 3/8 for starters, when did you ever hear a blues
played in 3/8? Sticking up for that lame jamming stuff is soooo pointless.
Go listen to "Meditations" by John Coltrane or something

time. But I did think of one last night, and here it is.

Yeah, because there's NEVER been a boring 20-minute jam that revolved around
one chord going under the name "King Kong"

Yeah, Miles did surround himself with great players. Ever hear 'Believe
