..............in this newsgroup DEDICATED to PRESERVING the MEMORY of
Mr.
Zappa's Musical Compositions........So.....I propose the Following
topics:

-Playground Psychotics - why wuz this DOUBLE CD ever released??? I
mean....Flo &
Eddie are GOD to me.....but this bunch of drivel........when such
BETTER F & E
material wuz available...(ie. Swiss Cheese/Fire!.........even more
Fillmore
tapes).....wuz Frank a victim of the chemotherapy he wuz undergoing
at the
time? (1992-3)

- Why the Zappatune "Goblin' Girl" has NOT become a staple of FM
airplay around
the Halloween season......(yes, I KNOW it has NOTHING to do with
Halloween in reality).

- Did Frank's act of "stealing" Art Tripp's musical "ideas" for his
own
personal credit SO devestate Mr. Tripp that he left the music scene
altogether
& became a chiropractor?

- What IF Jimmy Carl Black had sung the original version of "Willie
The Pimp"
on the HR album instead of The Captain???

- Why IS the first half of the YAWYI album SO GOOD & the second half
BITES THE
BAG!!!!!!!!!!??????

Do you think that Frank ever carved jack 'o laterns with his kids????

The Floor is
yours..........................................................

-Playground Psychotics - I wouldn't waste a CDR on this. It is useless
to me. That being said, I did listen to it once in it's entirety. It's
loaded with Conceptual Continuity and I think Frank wanted to share the
world he was in with us.

- "Goblin' Girl" - Gets a lot of airplay at my house in October.

- Art Tripp a chiropractor - No, it was his PENIS DIMENSION!!!

- What IF Jimmy Carl Black had sung "Willie The Pimp" - That would be
awesome. There's still a chance!

- Why IS the first half of the YAWYI album SO GOOD - He had too much
good material for one LP but not enough for two. Great sound though.

- I suspect he participated but doubt he did any carving.

But he did release Swiss Cheese/Fire!

I heard it on WXRT in 1999.

But then the Captain would have been annoyed and FZ would have had to
let him sing "Lonesome Cowboy Burt."

Wot? The title track and Dumb All Over *make* that album.

I love Playground Psychotics. I find it one of the more fascinating
collections in the catalog. Great headphone fodder.

'Cause it kinda sucks? It's not bad enough the thing FZ's most
commonly known for is "Valley Girl" -- you wanna see him popularized
for one of his few tunes that's actually worse?

Probably not.

Then it would be different.

Teenage Wind, Harder Than Your Husband, and Goblin Girl... better than
The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing, Dumb All Over, and Heavenly Bank
Account? To each his own, I suppose.

Yes.

And PP includes Fillmore material.

Goblin Girl is great. The best part is the vocal extravaganza in the
second half. Come to think of it, that's probably what kept it from
becoming a staple of Halloween airplay.

You can keep TW and HTYH, but yeah, I'll take Goblin Girl over anything
on disc 2 except If Only She Woulda.

Uh, I really like YAWYI. Even the tunes I don't like I can appreciate
in some way.

My faves are

Dumb all over (really)
Beauty Knows no Pain
If Only She Woulda
Any Downers?

Some fairly face melting guitar in places there.

YAWYI - Best FZ sing-a-long album ever.

Stick it on in the car and sing till your lungs fall out.

I am not a sentimental kinda guy but when Dumb all Over started up a
the ZpZ show in November in Austin I got really choked up. I mean, the
whole album is like the freaking 'conceptual continuity' pinnacle,
with Dumb all Over as the anthem, the succinct slam on the absurdity
of the human race and what our society has become- a relevant today as
it was then.

YAWI may have been the one Zappa album EVER to finally bring all the
elements together- the humor, the music, the social commentary, the
production values... my vote for _if you never heard any Zappa check
this out_

Are you high? I'm not that big of a F&E fan, but if you concentrate
on just the music itself (as opposed to the "anthropological" stuff),
it's a pretty great release. Better "Billy The Mountain" than
JABFLA. Better mix of Lennon/Ono stuff than STINYC. It's good stuff.

It would seem fitting.

Who's ideas to Frank steal after Art left?

It would have been awesome, but the original is awesome, too.

Stop smoking that stuff. It's very bad for you. The first half of
YAWYI has dated BADLY. The second half still stands up.

That's weird, because Goblin Girl is the only song on YAWYI that I
DON'T like.

I think the closer FZ got to parkin' it next to Lew Ayres, the more he
got to thinking, maybe I oughta make peace with the old bands.

This could explain the PP album, in that those guys all get
performance royalties or something.

Also, I think he got a bit more generous (not a lot, but some) with
sharing songwriting credits as he got older. So much so that he even
COMPLETELY FUCKED UP crediting "Lovesick Blues" to its actual authors,
renamed it "JCB and Kanzus on the Bus" and gave them songwriting
credit.

Oops. And to think of how pissed off he got when John and Yoko didn't
recognize King Kong...

I remember not liking Suicide Chump. I still don't, really. I know what
he's getting at, but it seems a little bit of a superficial attitude
(most suicides aren't `look at me` difficult-teen-angst attention
whoring, but are related to loneliness in old age or mental health
problems). I usually skip it. And Drafted Again seems completely out
of place at the end of the disk too.
