This evening I heard the sad news that J.D. Salinger has died.
One of my favorite American literary writers.
I have read everything by him I could find.
Even the 22 Complete Uncollected Short Stories (illegal press from March
1940).
And they again are available now on the internet:

I never read "Catcher In The Rye.. All I know is that back in high
school and college that if you ever saw anyone carrying around a copy
of that book you should avoid them at all costs.

I have an old used copy of "Catcher In The Rye", but, like many books
I own, I never bothered to sit down a read it. Once I finish the book
that I'm currently reading, I will probably go to that one.

With the inevitable library shortages, used bookstore shortages, and
posthumous reissues that follow any author's death, I'm glad that I
already have a copy.

Isn't there a movie with Mel Gibson that he has to buy "the Catcher in
the Rye" whenever he visits a book-store ?
Don't remember the title of it but Mel is a kind of paranoid guy...

It is too bad Mel Gibson lost his mind to Jeezus. The purveyors of
Cosmik Debris should be shunned and ostracized.
