I think this thread came up about two months ago, and no one seemed to
have much to say about it then. Of course none of this is anybody's
business, but what the fuck, I'll speculate...
Pretty sure Smothers is gay, right? How about Thunes? Not sure where I
heard that one. After that, I think I'd be going on looks alone, and I'm
not sure that's fair. What about Lisa Popeil? If we can count her as a
band member (highly arguable), do I remember reading somewhere that she's
of the lesbian persuasion?

woman). Somebody else said Mike Keneally is gay, too, which I also don't
think is true because he is married and has a daughter.

This does not preclude (is that a real word?), however, a real crush on
Punky Meadows, which many people seem to think; neither does it preclude (?)
having hung out in gay bars with fellow band members[mumble] and [mumble].
But it seems you'll never trust me on that.

Yes - this one was posted in the highly dubious "list of gay band members",
said to originate "with a roadie", which also included Bobby Martin: the
otherwise recycled lore is that Scott Thunes is gay (or bisexual) and THIS
was why Bobby Martin (and, by some means, Ed Mann) COULDN'T STAND HIM and
the '88 tour crash-landed. I don't know if this is true or not; the only
(circumstancial) evidence I know of is 1) Scott is being pointed at in the
"He's So Gay" video, and 2) "butt-fuck", used as a secret word on the '88
tour, was identified by Mike Keneally as having originated with some
"Mann/Thunes bickering". Neither of these have anything to do with Bobby,
though.

and 1984 tours. Once, in 1984 I think, the ol' Iron Sausage asked my friend to
fix some girls for him, a mission he did not accomplish. As a punishment,

From everything I read the reason Scott was not liked by some 88 bandmembers
was that Scott just is not one of the most communative and friendly people.
He just wasn't as nice a guy as Artie Barrow was. But a great bassplayer.
And you might just want to consider the possibility that he contributed to
the high level of playing during the 88 tour.
Whatever Scott's sexual preferences were/are, he had a girlfriend according
to Mike's reports and recently got married to a German girl called Ute (I
think) according to either T'Mershi Duween or Bryan Beller.
Bobby Martin looked like a gay-icon in DHBIM. Are we going to doubt his
sexual preferences now? And how about the cluster-fuck? And the stuff going
in Uncle Meat with JC Black and Don Preston (?)?
Anyway, good question. Let me add these to big issues:
- Why did Mr and Mrs Underwood split up?
- Whatever happened to FZ's dad, Mr.Green Jeans?
- Is Pinky's Whopper green?

When I first read that, I used the MST3K crew's pronunciation of
"hinder". The sentence took on a much different meaning.

Bobby could have hated Scott for being "the wrong kind of gay"
(theoretically, of course. I have no knowledge of nor interest in the

kid. Bobby Martin and Scott Thunes are both married. What indication is
there that any of them might be gay? Because Bobby Martin wore high cut

The facts:
- Who cares
- Just because Bozzio is married doesn't mean he might not be bisexual, as
has been hinted
- O'Hearn and Bozzio frequented gay bars together
- Just because Smothers grabbed peoples asses and taunted Bozzio doesn't
mean he's gay
- Most of the band members who have been ACCUSED of being gay are married
- Who cares
