Another one for the faq.

Alex Dmochowski, formerly of Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, and either an
illegal alien or at least not a member of the Musician's Union.

I'm just listening to WAKA/JAWAKA and wondering who tha bass player is.
The sleeve (RYCO disc) says
'Erroneous - electric bass'.
Anybody know who the bassplayer was ?
Could be Roy Estrada from the sound of it, but I can't imagine why he
would have to use an alias ??

I'm sure "Erroneous" is in some FAQ somewhere. His last name is Dmochowsky,
and I always seem to get his first name wrong. The legend is that they
listed him as "Erroneous" because he wasn't a member of the musicians union.

Good question. The Grand Wazoo came out about the same time. Erroneous is
listed there as bass player. Also, in the accompaning booklet (The Legend of
Cleetus Awreetus-Awrightus & The Grand Wazoo) Still miffed though.

Why he called himself "Erroneous" is beyond me, however the bass player in
question is Alex Dmochowski (according to Ben Watson's book "the Negative
Dialectic of Poodle Play).

I'm pretty sure Erroneous was playing bass in Jon Mayall's band circa
1990 (with Coco Montoya on guitar). Bob.

Ben Watson is correct.

Alex was the bass player in Aynsley Dunbar's Retaliation - pre-Zappa -
and I saw the band many times around London in their heyday. Alex had
a justified reputation as somewhat of a hard-hitting player. From the
part of my mind that wassn't too stoned at the time, I seem to recall
one gig where he broke three strings, but not all at once. Let's see,
Victor Brox was on vocals and pocket trumpet, and the guitarist was
John Morshead (?). Good band, sort of second league beneath Mayall and
Fleetwood Mac in terms of pecking order.

But why "Erroneous"? Perhaps it was some sort of comment on the
misspelling of his name that used to happen in the music press here?

I wonder what he's doing now?

Steve.

Ben Watson states that Alex Dmochowski was a session player,
previously he was also in Ansley Dunbar's band in the UK, 'Aynsley
Dunbar's Retaliation', so I would guess that Aynsley introduced Alex D
to FZ.

That would make sense since John Mayall produced at least one Aynsley
Dunbar Retalliation album, with Alex on it.

Here's a spaced-out picture of Erroneous, if you always wondered what he

Frank made them putting fire to the Festival Hall to create conceptual
continuity clues. The fire naturally made the guy in England pushing him
from stage, (Phase II), which caused the Mothers split-up (Phase III)
and so on. Like some other weirdo-beardo long-haired guy a long time
ago, Frank knew in advance that he had to suffer for the sake of
mankind.

And Erroneous is known by many nameth.

And Captain Beefheart´s real name is Caspar Hauser III.

Actually, it`s Vliet, not Van Vliet. The "Van" part was added by Don a
very long time ago for some reason of his own.

Whilst on the subject of the Cap`n, does anyone have information (not
speculation) on his health status?
He was rather seriously ill not so long ago and unable to do very much
at all, painting-wise. He has, of course, been completely retired as a
musician/performer for some years now.
Jimmy Carl Black said in November he was in pretty bad shape.

Shuggie Otis played bass on "Peaches En Regalia". (If you're only going to
play on one FZ track, that's a pretty good choice.) Alex "Erroneous"
Dmochowski played bass on all tracks on Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo.
