I did a search on www.reel.com and found out Dweezil is in this season's
Jack Frost. I will pass on this one.

I was forced to sit through this by my eight-year-old, who wanted to leave
before it was over. For those of you who need reminding, it's about a rock
musician who dies in a car accident and comes back to life a year later as
a snowman who looks remarkably like WC Fields. I don't think that's what
they were going for, but they succeeded, anyway. I kept waiting for him to
say, "Godfrey Daniels...!" But he didn't.

Yes indeedy, the Zappa boys (and I believe an unbilled Moon Zappa as the
schoolteacher) show up in the proceedings. Dweezil has the first two
spoken lines of the movie (except for stage patter). He plays a rock
promoter--is that ironic or what?

Ahmet plays a rubbery-faced snow plow driver and appears to be having a ball.

As I mentioned, there's a small part for a schoolteacher (who goes
unbilled in the cast) and I'd swear on Michael Keaton's bad harmonica
playing that it's Moon.

Perhaps someone out there can go see it this weekend and tell me if I'm right.

Sorry, this is unrelated to the movie, but wouldn't it be cool if the next
time Dweezil and/or Ahmet made one of their late night television
appearances, if they ever said anything along the lines of: You know, our
(my) dad was one of the greatest contemporary composers of the 20th
century--you should really check out his music. He had a unique talent.
(Not that this would change anything.)

When they did their brief appearances on MTV Live last year, one of the MTV
VJs said something like "If you're not down with Frank Zappa, you need to get
down with some Frank Zappa." Pretty lame. Then they showed a short "video"
with Peaches En Regalia playing.

The problem with praising Frank Zappa is that by doing so, they
would admit their lameness and impotence... that they're living off
their Sugar Daddy's blood, sweat n' tears.

A retirement that never happened....and never enjoyed by Frank
Zappa.....that's the real tragedy. No retirement, and the kids
living off Frank's name and wealth.

That's such a stupid comment - sure they get money from the ZFT, but they've
all had careers of their own - some of them at ages as young as fourteen! Diva
still living completely off of the ZFT money we can understand - she's what -
18? 19? Dweezil and Ahmet could definitely live off of the money made by their
own entertainment efforts, both musically and MTV-wise.

Yeah, but I think the point of his post was what's the quality of their own
'entertainment' contributions? Obviously, they can't measure up to FZ--no one's
asking them too--but maybe the siblings Zappa could try to do something more
'substantial' (subjective i know), as well as extolling the quality of their dad's
musical contribution in a more serious manner.

I think both of them have an incredible talent, I just got into Dweezil's and
Zs music but I really like it.... they just dont have a fanbase and now in
the 90's is kind of hard to be a well paid musician if you are not on Mtv....

I wonder what would happened if frank started doing music on the 90's, could
he be as famous as he is?
