"This Sucks" rating. They also had a second video, I don't
remember who it was that really sucked.

Actually, now that I think about it, Frank watches Beavis & Butthead
doesn't he? It said so in the TV Guide article that featured
What Frank Zappa watches. So maybe he saw his own video on B&B.
This would no doubt give him a heart attack since he said that
noone will show the YAWYI video being that it is too contraversial
(it has a Reagan-lookalike getting the electric chair).

Who gave it the rating? B&B gave the Zappa video a "this sucks" rating, or you
gave their show a "this sucks" rating? I just want to make this clear, because
I hate that show, and could always use more fuel for my fire on that subject.

I think it was TV guide a couple weeks back where he said he _loved_
the six-hour Beavis-N-Butthead marathons on MTV I think he might've
called it "moron-athon". They've been doing a "What the stars watch"
column recently, I've no doubt pitched the issue, even I"m not that
much of a packrat.

I should have posted a longer message originally, but was pressed for
time. They did have Reagan in the electric chair dabbing his hair
with something that looked like vaseline. Of course it really wasn't
supposed to be Reagan, just an older gentleman with funny hair (Play on
the Ren & Stimpy Pope Credits).
The "this sucks" rating was given by B&B. I kind of like the show,
because some of videos on it are ridiculously stupid. Like the one
that followed the YAWYI video. When B&B switched back the YAWYI video was
finishing up, Butthead responded, "I hate videos that are long and suck."
MTV airs all their stuff in Heavy Rotation, so you probably can catch the
same episode soon, which I believe has B&B on trial for throwing eggs at
a house.
The YAWYI video is also on the Video from Hell. B&B don't really
have the best taste in music, so a "this sucks" could be considered
a compliment. Remember B&B gave the Bee Gees' Jive Talking a good
rating. Besides how long has it been, since MTV played any
Zappa on the air (12 years). I actually saw a Captain Beefheart
video on MTV in 1982.

Since it's obvious that Frank has a sense of humor (Does humor really belong
in music?), I'm sure he probably got a chuckle out of that B&B episode. By
the way, I saw the episode, I think it was called "The Canoe". When it came
on, BH said, "Hey, what's this, that guys got a lettuce on his head".....

I also saw this B&B a few nights ago. After flipping to another video,
B&B flipped back to YAWYI and said "Is this still on?" Just because
Frank says that he watches B&B does not mean that they have to
patronize him. I twinged a little when I heard them say "This sucks",
but then I laughed. The writers of B&B only let them say "This is
cool" for metal. Pretty much everything else sucks. Actually, I think
that B&B give silent approval to videos that are allowed to end,
showing the title, artist, etc. in the lower corner of the screen.
YAWYI was allowed the "privilege".

I don't know if this is obscure, but my favorite Zappa TV interview
was on the old Nickolodian show _Kids are People Too_. Frank and Moon
appeared on the show, and amazingly enough, the *entire* video of
_You Are What You Is_ was played. Especially as the word "nigger"
*wasn't* bleeped (the crux of the biscuit.) The only time that I
ever saw YAWYI on eMpTyVee, it was bleeped. Odd to think that a
kids show at 9 am on a weekday, didn't bleep, but that eMpTyVee
did.
In re B&B, I'd consider at "this sucks" rating a badge of honor
considering what they "think" doesn't suck.

to look like Reagan, and Frank pretty much raved about the show
in May (?) when he did the 2 hour North Carolina radio
interview (over the phone). He even told whatever heavy metal
band that called to talk to him to write a song about B&B. I
still hate the show, even though he and David Letterman like
it.
