. . . one notch higher than Lou Reed.

Adrian Belew, Zoot Horn Rollo (Bill Harkleroad), Shuggie Otis, are among
others listed.

Not that lists matter.

They have a weird view of the meaning of "of all time". I would
bet if you asked them "Who was Hank Garland" they'd come up dry.

Reminds me of when Playboy made the mistake of asking Richard Thompson
for his top ten songs of the millennium.

Exactly. Some of the people on the Spin list, I get the feeling
they still have day jobs.

It's strange how a magazine like Spin survives. I don't get it.

The general class of music that depends on journalism seems to
have been a rising thing. It's way different from when
Sam Phillips took his records down the street and people became
significant. Or when Woody guthrie did his thing, or anybody
pre-1960 of any stature. Or Glenn Miller, or just about anybody.
Never mind Motown or LA during the Wrecking Crew...

To me, the Paul Buff/Frank thing is more in that tradition
than what's been since Rolling Stone.

Good grief, Lou Reed. Did he ever even touch a guitar?

Not if Lou Reed shows up on them.

I wonder if he was REALLY thinking of the Boy Wonder version of Orange
Colored Sky rather than Nat King Cole.

Unless it's a list of the worst guitarists.
