I agree that lincoln's information raises more questions than answers:

1. If he is Flynn's illigitimate son, why has no one (speicifically
Flynn authors) made more of this, especially
given that he's using Flynn as a last name?

2. I checked the internet movie data base, anf there are about seven
James Flynn listed. Among the actors,
there a couple with just one film each. If this guy's an actor,
what's he been in??

3. Lincoln wrote that the autograph dealers selling the photo are highly
reputable. Why would they recant the
claim on ebay that James Flynn is Errol Flynn's son, when lincoln's
source verifies it?

One other question, has anyone else heard of any other
rumors/statements/claims of other illegitimate Flynn children? Just
curious!

Brad, I thought I would leave a few thoughts in response to your
very good questions>

My friend Tom Scalzo has emailed me saying that he has a
full-colur magazine article which profiles James Flynn as Errol's
son. I am hoping he can send me a copy of it. Also, for the exact
reason that he is Errol's ILLEGITIMATE son, one might see why
journalists have tended to back off on the story, for legal reasons
which concern the Flynn estate.

IMHO, I'm not really sure what relationship his acting
resume has to do with his claim to be Errol's (illegitimate)
offspring.

Hollywood history is rife with examples of the sons and daughters
of famous actors who have failed to achieve a successful acting
career, but who still describe themselves professionally as actors.
If you need any examples of this, just look at Kirk Douglas's three
sons (excepting, of course,
Michael).

highly reputable. Why would they recant the claim on ebay that
James Flynn is Errol Flynn's son, when
lincoln's source verifies it?

I would think they are afraid of the possible legal repercussions
involved in the claim, which involves paternity - a very difficult thing
to prove one way or another. They are just covering their a----s.

One would think that if Rory or Deirdre were to offer a
blood sample, DNA would settle the question once and for all. But
then, why would they want to do that?

Also, since there are several "James Flynn's" who are actors, there
is always the chance that the person in this photo is not the RIGHT
James Flynn. I'm sure Bev will be able to tell us the answer on
that one.

Nope (except for Shirley Hassau).

> Hi, folks. I can add this to the discussion
about why the eBay sellers of the James Flynn
photo recanted: I sent them an email when I saw
the photo, believing the sellers had gotten some
mis-information about it being one of Flynn's
children, being aware only of Sean, Arnella, Rory
and Deidre, plus a woman I'd met in 1977 who said
she was the illegitimate daughter of Errol--that
her mother had received money from Flynn, to
settle her claim that he'd fathered her daughter,
and that she'd blown the money--and abandoned her
child to be raised by the Salvation Army, etc.,
and so thinking this claim of James being another
son was false--I contacted the eBay sellers and
told them James was not the son of Errol Flynn,
as they supposed, and then contacted the high
bidder, to tell him of my fears, as well. The
bidder turned out to be the very fine gentleman,
Mr. Lincoln, whom you all know--and he kindly
gave me some links to his review of David
Brett's abysmal tome on Flynn--and mentioned the
fact that Bev Aadland believed James to be an
ILLIGITIMATE son of Errol, and here we are. Just
why the eBay seller of his photo would take my
misgivings about the photo as fact, amazes me, as
they emailed me back saying they would ammend the
sale description--and did. As Lincoln states,
there is plenty of reason to wonder what the
truth is... is this James Flynn an imposter? I
would never call Bev Aadland a liar, but the wool
is thick and deep over her eyes if this guy is
pulling her leg! And had done so for a number of
years, as Lincoln told me in an email that James
and Bev had been close for years. What tales Bev
can tell, if only she would! I take this
opportunity to mention that in an article in
People Magazine, she kindly wrote that if Flynn
were still alive, she'd still be with him... I've
been a Flynn fan since, as a kid, I first saw
Robin Hood, as many have--and it's touching to
think that Bev still had feelings for Flynn after
all these years, and I admired her for saying so,
very much. Hope the work on Mr. Lincoln's own bio
goes very well, as it's about time someone with
his obvious intelligence and dedication to the
enormous task of it, is coming out with a new
book that uses facts and not fictions to tell the
incredible story of Errol Flynn. Thanks, David D.

Well David, what can I say? I greatly appreciate your comments. I
envy the guy whose intelligence you describe - frankly, I wish it
were me (please forgive bad grammar).

I am stunned by all the people so far who have jumped in to
contact me by email with offers to help me with this project - it is, to
be blunt, overwhelming. If I haven't personally got in touch with you
by now, to say thanks, please know that I will - soon.

Thanks again David - and all the best to you and yours. Your
chum,

In the early 80s I worked as an upgraded extra playing a terrorist in the Rutger Hauer, Gene Simmons movie, Wanted Dead or Alive. In an opposing role, as either an FBI (or CIA) agent, in the same 'walk-on' capacity was Jim Flynn. A fortiesh guy who, aside from his red hair, was a virtual double for Errol Flynn. After we were done being mortal enemies on the set, we'd get together, along with a couple of other actors (Bob Guillaume, for one)and bat the breeze on our breaks. At times, Jim would casually and inadvertently speak of his past and the fun he'd had on Dad's boat (Errol's yacht). It was also apparent that he had fond memories of his father, regardless of all the tabloidesque mud that had been slung about him. If anyone could meet this guy and bet against his being the son of Errol Flynn...stay away from Vegas.
