Before we laugh too hard, there is something very interesting here.
The sellers of the picture are Cordelia and Thomas Platt, who are
widely recognized as the among the two or three most respected
autograph dealers in America. They used to work with Charles
Hamilton, and their reputation is impeccable. I cannot believe they
would sell something that is fake or that involves anything which
they have not thoroughly researched. They are much too careful
for that. Thus what Derek says carries some weight. And what
about that chin and that smile! (I mean James', not Derek's).

Before you buy.
The documentary Derek refers to is entitled "When the Applause
Died." I am getting in touch with the Platts to see what they know
about the photo and him.
Maybe the laugh is on me. I'm not familiar with the documentary lincoln
referred to, so I was not aware that Flynn had a son out of wedlock. Give
his sexual activities, the possibility that there are more Flynn offspring
does not surprise me. What does surprise me is that there hasn't been
stuff written about the other son, especially given how many authors have
taken the opportunity to skewer Flynn. Also, since he's using the last
name of Flynn, wouldn't somebody be asking questions about this??
I'm also surprised that lincoln didn't have more to say on subject, unless
this is a topic covered in his book that he doesn't want to divulge at
this point.
I will say that I also see some resemblence between James Flynn and Errol
Flynn.

He DOES look like Errol Flynn but is he not a little too old?

It is worth remembering (to those here sceptics here!) that Errol paid
out on at least one paternity suit made against him.
And the guy in the photo is about forty/fifty. Does that look like a
photograph taken in the eighties or nineties?
Just reminded me of what Flynn said to Christopher Lee about being faced
with a woman claiming to be bearing your child "The situation will either
abate or abort."
Plesant isn't he?
Yes, there was the celebrated case of Shirley Evans Hassau. To
me, "James" looks exactly the right age.
And I didn't mean to short-circuit Brad's original point - God, the
photo IS funny!!! Every time I look at it, I chuckle. He's obviously
trying to look like Errol. And hey, where's the silk scarf?
Too bad his signature has nothing of Errol's Flair - it's utterly
boring. I do wish him well. If he IS Errol's son, can you imagine
the tough time he's had?
I talked to somebody today who has known Beverly Aadland for a
very long time, and he mentioned to me that she has known
James Flynn for decades, and vouches 100% that he is Errol's
illegitimate son.
The mystery deepens.
