Emma and Geri in Spicy chart battle
Emma Bunton is set for a head-to-head battle with ex-Spice Girl Geri
Halliwell.
Baby Spice plans to release her debut solo single, What I Am, on November 1.
And her fiercest competition will come from Geri who releases her new single
Lift Me Up on the same day.
Bookmakers William Hill are offering odds of 2-1 on Geri making it to No1,
while Baby is at 5-2.
A close friend of both girls told The Sun: 'It had to happen. Once the girls
started releasing solo singles it was inevitable they would go
head-to-head.'

Well lets hope geri gets to number one not emma geri's much more tallented.
Abbey 8-)
If I had a choice between the two, I'd chose Emma this time round.
Sorry, but Lift Me Up is not a good single, it just makes an OK album
filler song.

Sorry, but " Lift Me Up " IS a wonderful song, and it's going to be nice seeing it
at number 1 on the music charts around the world, but of course the sad sacks of
this world won't appreicate that, well they?

I wonder if I should start up a " Lift Me Up " supporters united club?

Now this is an intelligent person as she has great taste in music.

Isn't Sabrina a WebTVer? If so, I'm not sure if she can even download
mp3s. I could be wrong though.

Trevor, you said the same about Look At Me and her album. Hardly a
very impressive track record.

I said she was intelligent because she said that " Lift me Up " is fab, I
was not saying that about the MP3's, or whatever is was.

HEY !!!! I can't help it that some people have a VERY poor taste in music, BUT
did I tell you that " Look at Me " was number 1, here in New Zealand on May 30th?

So you admit you were wrong then?

New Zealand is hardly "all around the world."

In my opinion, "Lift Me Up" is the best track on her album, so it
would've been the more appropriate choice. I suppose Geri wanted a
release that she's proudest of, thus "Look At Me", which has a happy
bubble-gum feel. Obviously the record exec's choice was better. As for
this so-called feud; it's Emma for christ sakes. She's more tolerant
and good natured than "other" certain members. Don't forget, on more
than one occasion, Emma mentioned that Geri was like an older sister to
her.....

The highest position in Australia for "Look At Me" was at 3 [which was it's
debut week], not Number 1, according to the ARIA charts [ www.aria.com.au ].
It only made it to number 1 in Sanity [which is an Australia wide music
store], not in the official charts.

Actually, Emma has said the least period about Geri's split and is one
of the girls who apparently has not been in touch with Geri in any
capacity. I.e., it's hard to tell what she thinks exactly.

"This won't hurt a bit, Em!" :p
Darren's fine.

Whether it was designed to be or not is not the issue. I believe it
does not make a good single.

I think it was a difference of opinion of where Geri should be going.
She has worked very hard to reinvent herself as a serious artist. If
you take a look at the video of Lift Me Up, it seems it's marketed at
a younger audience, the current Spice Girls' audience (As a side note,
the rest of the Spice Girls seem to be reinventing themselves since
they are heading out of youngster fashion, so maybe the 'brass' are
seeing a possible hole that can be filled).

Well, this may not have been as wiser move as she thought. Look At Me
was considered a dissapointment simply because it did not get to
number 1, some even called it a flop. Sales of the album were
dissapointing, which is a shame since it's a good album IMHO.
> She won the battle with the execs, but it nearly cost her the war.
Maybe not. At the time of the first single, Geri was still viewed as
Ginger Spice, and Lift Me Up seems to cater to the Spice Girls'
audience. At a time where the Spice Girls are on their way out
(Although maybe not as solo artists), this could have fallen flat on
its face.

Geri is hardly hard up for cash. I respect Geri for what she's done
so far, but it seems th suits wanted her to become a toned down Ginger
Spice. Look At Me was definately not a 'Ginger Spice' song.
> She is now
> relenting
> on the release of the song, but at the most inopportune time...
Definately. It seems like a regression to me. The song is
reasonable, but the video screams "cheap and tacky" to anyone older
than about 13.

Mel C seems to be doing alright for herself despite calling Geri
"cotton wool", which is a rather ironic statement to come from a Spice
Girl.

Hmm...What I Am is a good song, and Emma's cover is good. I suppose
Tin Tin Out are alright, but I disliked their remix of "What Can I Do"
by The Corrs. The original was so much better.

As you said before, Emma has not been catty, and I see no real
evidence of anything other than friendly rivalry between them. So, I
don't think either would mind that much. But that's just my opinion
and I have been known to make humungous mistakes before.
