From what I can tell it's a 'home brewed' 5.1
I'm pretty sure there was a legitimate 5.1 release, as I posted one
sometime back......but I'm not sure about that and can't find the
disc.
jeff
Is there such a thing as 'home brewed' 5.1?
What makes you think that's the case?
I only want to download the real thing.
Yes, you can make your own surround sound CDs.
In the INFO file the poster said it was created with Plogue Bidule,
which I believe is one of the more popular surround sound creators.
75% of the CDs posted in the DTS group are home made.
Some sound good and some not so good. You can read more about it at
http://www.dtsac3.com.
I've tried to make some on my own but the software is very complicated
and I haven't had time to sit down and really make a good sounding CD.
I may have been mistaken as I just called my friend whom I thought
gave me a legit Dolby Surround Madman, but he says I was mistaken and
it was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road that I posted in Surround Sound. He
says there never was a surround Madman released.......except for the
SACD version.
Maybe someone here knows if Madman was released in Dolby Surround?
jeff
P.S. While writing this I gave the posted Madman a listen and it's DTS
5.1, but the SACD version is quite a bit better.
Jeff,
You are right about the Madman in a.b.s.dts being 'home brewed'.
Only Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was released in Dolby Surround Sound
and YOU did post that many months ago.
I listen to it a lot as I don't have a SACD player.
The DTS version posted isn't too bad at all and for those who have DTS
Surround Sound, a good alternative to the SACD release.
Peace,
BD
Thanks Jeff and Bad Dog for your info.
I will give this a go.
It's in rar files which I am ok with - can you tell me what to do with what
I have then? Presumably use Nero to create a DVD which is what I did with
Jeff's brilliant post of GBYBR some months back.
OK, I now have a 459MB wav file but it's all hiss.
Any help would be appreciated.
HI,
You know what the problem is, the Madman posting is DTS 5.1 and not
Dolby Digital Surround 5.1 like the GBYBR I posted.
If you don't have a DTS capable amplifier all you will hear is hiss.
:(
jeff
If you use Nero Burning Rom, burn an "audio cd" using the .wav file you
have.
It will only play in a DTS capable DVD player and not a normal cd player -
if you try to play it in one of those it will indeed be "all hiss"
