Pretty sure it was a single off of one of Neil's albums in the 70's.
Apparently Elton helped to "re-launch" Neil's career.

I believe Sedaka was signed to Rocket at the time.

Bad Blood was a #1 song in 1975. Neil wrote it (lyrics and music).

It's a euphamism for an STD.

I remember the song from childhood but never knew it had a connection to an
STD! lol......which one? And where did this connection come from?

Actually he song reached #2 back in 1975-76. It was at a time when Elton
was launching Rocket Records with Cliff Richard, Judy Tchuke (sic), and Neil
Sedacka. Elton's participation on Bad Blood was the ONLY reason this song
charted. It hasn't held up to well over the years.

According to Billboard magazine (the final word in American charts) Bad Blood
was #1 for 3 weeks in October of 1975. It was knocked out of #1 by Island Girl.

I don't think the song is about an STD. I just reread the lyrics. The
common meaning for Bad Blood is two people not getting along. I suppose you
could read what you want in the lyrics such as there is "Bad Blood" between
the two because the woman had "Bad Blood."

Just my opinion though. Has Sedaka ever commented on it?

I think "Bad Blood" is a FANTASTIC song and indeed it is still catchy today!
And yes, it would have charted even if Elton wasn't on it.

The Bad Blood between Elton and Neil exists through today. When Neil's Rocket
contract was up in the late 70s, Neil's lawyers held out for too much cash and
pissed off Elton so bad that they still don't talk.

Neil speaks very fondly of his days when he and Elton were cohorts and even
talks in detail about him in his Rocket album CD re-releases which are now out
on Varesse Sarabonde Records. But if you ask Neil about Elton and their
relationship, it clearly angers him whatever transprired between him and Elton
and Neil won't talk about it. Elton is very terse and closed mouthe as well
about their former friendship's state today.

That's showbiz!

No, the other voice you hear is Elton's. The song really should have been
billed a duet.

No, Stanley is Elton's father. Neil was on Elton's Rocket Records, the label
on which the duet was released. Elton guested on vocals. Period. Any other
intelligent questions?

Yes, I have a question. Did you think I was serious?
My original post had a joke emoticon 8^) in it which would indicate a
humorous as opposed to intelligent question.

Incidentally the album was called "The Hungry Years," and also features Neil's ballad remake of "Breaking Up is Hard to Do." Phil Cody wrote the words to "Bad Blood."
