I was watching "Tomorrow Never Dies" today and i realized what is to me
a very sad fact.
ELTON JOHN HAS NEVER DONE A SONG FOR A JAMES BOND FILM !!!.
Now i don't know if he's been asked and turned the project down or if
he's just been overlooked as a candidate for this.
Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow: Each of them has done the duty
but never Elton.
So i was thinking this i became inspired to pen a new version of
"Tomorrow Never Dies" (which Sheryl Crow does) which i think would be
lyrically appropiate for Elton to take a crack at.
It will of course be a far cry from Bernie but in my humble opinion it
is much more interesting than Gary Osbourne (where is he anyways) ?.
Anyway
here we go-

"Tomorrow Never Dies"
lyrics: Arthur P.
music: Elton John

I look out the window
I see the same surprise
They come with a gun to kill me
Tomorrow Never Dies

My eyes they must be the mirrors (i know this line screams "Skyline
Pigeon")
Of the blood behind your night
And my mind has not been clearer
Tomorrow Never Dies

Tomorrow Never Dies
Tomorrow Never Dies

I can see when they come from the darkness
In their thinly veiled disguise
But that's when the sun comes up
Tomorrow Never Dies

I believe there's a dream in the temple
Where your pray with your bullets and knives
And i've come like a shadow in the morning
Tomorrow Never Dies

Tomorrow Never Dies
Tomorrow Never Dies

Vocals & Piano - Elton John
Guitars - Davey Johnstone
Percussion - Ray Cooper

Copyright 1998
yes this is a legal copyright, and obviously the lyrics are reprinted by
permission
of the author ... or is it arthur ? :o)

So ... any other thoughts ?

Elton wanted to write a Bond song once. He wrote "Shoot Down The Moon" and
offered it to the Bond people, but they turned him down. It ended up on Ice on
Fire.

Actually, the song "Shoot Down the Moon" was slated to be the theme for one of
the Bond films (I don't remember which). Elton's management sent it in to Fox
(or whoever does the Bond films) and Fox didn't know what it was for and sent
it back.

If a note had been included, Elton would have a theme song in the Bond
tradition.

Actually, it wasn't for Fox, but rather U/A and Albert R. (Cubby)
Broccoli. (Now deceased)
