I just read the Phillip Norman book (good book) and in the end, Phillip
goes and talks to elton who is explaining how bad off he was in the 70's
and 80's. Elton tells Phillip that at one point, he was in a hotel room
and it was overlooking a park and he looked out the window and it was
windy. Elton turns to someone and sez "it's too windy, can someone do
something about that." I'm still laughing.

I recently watched an old video of EJ being interviewed by Whoopi
Goldberg. He tells the story that he called the front desk to complain that
the wind outside his room was too loud. Then admits that the wind Inside
the room was too loud, too.:o)

Oh you would bring this up....ROFLMAO. Elton told this story on the
rosie o'donnell show last year. He was in Paris and he had the stomach
flu. During the first song, he went #2 in his pants and rushed off the
stage and changed and went back on and finished the the concert.
He then said (joking) that it was the first time that he had a review
that said "he stunk."

Well he crapped his pants in concert once.

I'm not sure what year or where the concert was but i'm sure someone
here will know that.

You wanna see tantrums ?
Get a copy of "Tantrums & Tiaras" which is a documentary directed by his
partner David Furnish.
Also for interesting facts there's a few books out and if you ever catch
the Pop Up Video Elton special that has a lot of facts as well.

Anyone know how accurate & good (compared to other books) the "Many Lives of Elton
John" is? I read it not to long ago, and it seemed to me be pretty accurate..

In 1974 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, he got so into the audience that he
jumped off the stage and over the people wall and the folks packed in there caught
him. He panicked but the nice folks gently lifted him back over the people wall and
security guys lifted him back onstage. I wonder what song it was? In those days
there was no reserved seating, it was called festival seating and everyone just
packed in around the stage.

I went to one of Elton's 1993 Melbourne concerts in Australia which was
memorable.

I remember convincing a friend and his wife to part with some hard earned
money to go see him in concert. I told them what value for money he was. By
the end of the night I had egg on my face!!

The concert was held in February which is the end of our summer here
downunder. We had had a few days in a row of high temperatures (around 100
degrees) and on this particular night a cool change swept through the city.

The concert was held in the Melbourne Tennis Centre which has a roof which
is closed for concerts. The roof, however, was retractable and was often
opened for various reasons.

At this time of the year insect life is fairly active and many insects of
varying sizes and shapes are particularly active after a long hot spell.

On the night of this particular Elton John concert a large number of flying
insects of considerable size managed to find their way into the concert
arena (obviously at some time when the roof had been retracted!).

Anyway, the concert began and we were really enjoying it (as we always do
with an Elton concert). My friends were also enjoying themselves. As the
concert went on we noticed (even from our seats at the back) that a number
of flying insects were causing a bit of havoc on stage. Every now and then
one of the band would perform the great Aussie salute and take a swipe at a
low flying UFO!

The concert went on for nearly two hours like this and Elton, to his credit,
was the consumate professional, performing some fantasitc versions of his
songs.

The female vocalists in the band had just started the intro lines to Sad
Songs when one of the insects finally hit the target - straight into her
mouth! The poor woman gagged and the music stopped.

Elton got up from his piano and went across to her to check that she was
alright. Then we were all shocked as he promptly marched the entire band off
stage never to return that night!!

On this particular occasion, I think he had good cause to lose his temper,
but it was quite a shock to the audience and I don't think my friends will
be going back to another Elton concert in a hurry!

Paul, I think I remember reading about that in our newspaper! It was in the
"Earthwatch" section that relates all the volcanoes, tornadoes and harsh
weather around the world for the week. This article stated they were
locusts (grasshoppers).

My big brother just reminded me of something that happened many moons ago.
It was a concert on Xmas Eve 1982 - I think !! At the Hammersmith Odeon and
it was the phase when Elton used to throw his piano stool . Well this night
he threw it into the audience and it went further than he expected and hit a
girl !! Next thing we know is that the girls on stage sharing his stool at
the piano and he gave her a leather jacket !!Lucky girl he could have hit me
.I'd have gladly shared his piano stool !! and bet lots of you would have as
well ( hell wouldn't we have needed a big stool !!)

I believe this is the incident Philip Norman documents in his biography of
Elton. They gave the girl a jacket and let her pick out a new dress, hoping
to keep the thing quiet. They also invited her to a party, and she wore the
dress -- to their horror, it had no material on the shoulders, and her huge
bruise from the piano stool showed!! She was pretty proud of it apparently.
LOL

A lot of places don't have tantrums and tiaras, anymore, but i got one
for a friend a couple of months ago for 13 bucks at www.soundstone.com.

elton told the story about crapping (LOL) his pants on the rosie
o'donnell show about a year ago. He was in paris doing a concert and
had the flu. Rosie had asked him what his worse concert was and that
was his answer.
