Hi, I know, that this topic was well discussed but I havent found
specific information about the long term consequences when you work
for both sides in Frontier and FFE.

For example, is ist possible to work for both superpowers an collect a
full set of medals? I tried arround with a sge and got allways boring
delivery missions as admiral/prince. ;-)

The only way I found is to kill my points with the sge and start a the
oposite power as a “undercover spy”.

Anyone out there in the Frontier universe who got all medals from all
superpowers without editing a Savegame? And if, how have you done it?

Thanks

Hilmar

PS: Sorry for my lack of english (german),...

Hi

Perhaps this is interesting:

In FFE I played arround with buffet and found out, that the difference
between the fed and imp Points ist the reason for the mission types
you get.

For example when you are Admiral Prince with both 21000 points, than
you get delivery missions from both. But If you are a 21000 Prince and
a 32000 Admiral then the feds are give you bombing missions and so on
again.

So I think it is possible to get all medals, but If you like to be
Admiral and Prince with all medals, then it is a long way to go!
Perhaps with this target it is the best to collect all medals from one
side and then switch to the other for long! Then switch back...? The
point is perhaps, that you have to get all the points doing deliverys
until you get past the boarder. Perhaps I play arround to find out how
big the boarder is, in points.

Nice Forum, with so many people ;-) (monolouge)

PS: Now I try it in FE2 but I think it is the same

Is that an echo I hear? :-)

In space, no-one can hear you post. Unless, that is, you have a Remlok
Usenet Survival Mask.

Is that a commander editor? It's the first I've heard of it, any
chance of a link? I did have a prototype commander editor for FFE a
while back but lost it and the contact details of the author in a hard
drive failure.

Interesting, that's in line with some stuff I've heard. One of the
other theories was that, for example, completing an Excellent Recon
for the Empire would give you 20 pts for them but knock 10 pts of your
Federal score. I can't remember what that was based on, however.

Looking back through the My Commanders page on my site, I only had two
commanders where there was a certain amount of working for both sides.
Both of these were on FE2, not FFE.

On the first one, Commander Jades, I had started with the Federation
and made it up to Sergeant-Major with a Certificate of Valour before
defecting to the Empire. I eventually made it to Viscount and a full
set of medals.

The second one, Commander Cheatah, I worked for both sides equally.
The technique I used was to advance one rank for one power and then
immediately switch to working for the other power until I advanced
with them and then switch back. Medals would come in the normal way.
On this save I made it to Imperial Squire with Crimson Brassard &
Black Polygon and Federal Sergeant-Major with Certificate of Valour &
Starburst.

Unfortunately, I lost all my Amiga FE2 saves a few years back and
can't remember the exact details of how the Cheatah save progressed.
Moral of the story: when you get the idea of putting your latest saves
on your website, ACTUALLY DO IT! Oh, and backup regularly too. :-(

Not quite sure what you mean by border, but there's a summary of the
rank points totals on the FFE FAQ - direct link to section is
http://www.jades.org/ffefaq2.htm#whatisrank if you haven't already
read it.

Some people don't always expect there to be posts from real people.
;-)

Possibly. It's a shame I've lost those FE2 saves because they'd
probably show if it is the same system.

I have a page about it here...

http://www.frontierastro.co.uk/Buffet/buffet.html

It works with all incarnations of FFE except FFED3D. It also seems to be a
bit unreliable on my Vista system, but that might just be me :-)
