Hi

I try too get through this medal bug in FFE and try some things to go
arround this Bug.
In one Thread I read, that this Probleme was not in older versions of
the Game.

Can anyone give me a 1.00 firstenc.exe (english/UK), so that I can
proof this rumor?

Greetings

Hilmar

PS: Is it possible, that JJFFE will ever fix this Bug? Because the
Game for me feels incomplet with missing Medals on the Screen ;-))))))

I tried it with firstenc 1.02 UK and failed. The rumor with the older
version seem to be wrong!

Is there a posibility to hack a savegame to get the medals? Until now
I already found the option to change the rank or elite points, but no
adress to put medals on or off. Anyone any ideas to that??

PS: A medalfixed JJFFE and the Game ist perfect, really!!!
Please! ;-)))))))

I haven't played that in years. Do you get a medal for getting a
certain number of points? If so you could use GameWiz or CheatEngine
to set the points total to 1 under the next medal and do an easy
mission...

No you get them by doing a certain mission type at the first time! I
don't know how to find the adress in the savegame, where this
information is stored. It has nothing to do with the points that you
have. Someone out there who can solve that puzzle?

I'm not familiar with editing saves so I can't help with where that
info might be stored. I've put a lot of stuff about rankings and
medals in the FFE FAQ (http://www.jades.org/ffefaq2.htm), it's
believed to be correct for FFE v1.06 and JJFFE. There's quite a bit of
info in there but I'll repeat the bit about medals below.

According to the information I have, the medals are, from lowest to
highest with the first name being the Federal version and the second
one Imperial:-

Certificate of Valour / Crimson Brassard - first 'important' delivery
(i.e. Gravatic Detonators).

Starburst / Black Polygon - first secret delivery.

Purple Omega / Golden Spike - first assassination

Vermilion Crest / Platinum Cross - first photo mission (shouldn't have
'excellent' grade).

Blue Excelsior / Legion of Honour - first 'excellent' photo.

Frontier Medal / Celestial Warrior - first bombing mission.

IIRC, photos are deemed 'excellent' if they're taken from a range of
under 10km so in order to get a Platinum Cross you'll have to make
sure your photo was taken from much further away. I can't remember
whether the CLASSIFIED recon missions, which have different
eligibility criteria to the normal military version, count for medals.

I have a vague memory of someone saying that if a player manages to
gain a superior medal before the earlier ones the game will never
allocate them.

The most likely way this would happen is by doing the 'Assassinate
Joreb Innitu' plot mission as this is offered through the military BBS
- therefore you'd be in line to receive the relevant medal.

As a main plot mission, it always shows up regardless of rank (combat
rating being the deciding factor on whether you're allowed to take the
contract) so due to it coming quite early in the plot there's a big
chance that the mission gets done before the higher-grade delivery
missions become available.

This is especially likely if you've been doing the other plot missions
and aren't working from busy military bases like Facece or Eta
Cassiopea.

Best way to test the medals is to start a new commander off, ignore
all of the plot missions and work exclusively for one power. This
should eliminate most factors that could be interfering.
