My Usenet client, Newstap on iOS, has a description of "Makers of
supermodels" for this group - seems this group had a totally different
purpose when created. It's an alt group so I don't think usenet.org
applies.

Would like to get the description changed over, which I imagine means
altering the charter - something I don't yet know about, but am happy
to learn and try to get sorted if people agree.

Cheers,
Ian

Interesting - have found this page: http://nylon.net/alt/#charter

I've done as suggested and found the original control message for this group:

----
For your newsgroups file:
alt.fan.elite Discussion of Elite and Frontier computer games

This is a re-topicing of an existing group, and booster message.
The group was originally created for a modelling agency but lapsed into
disuse many years ago and was colonised without any objection since….
----

…yet the active groups file has:

-----
alt.fan.elite Maker of Supermodels.
-----

….so it seems as if in 1998, someone had the same idea as me now and
got the control message through but alt.config didn't actually put it
in the active groups list. I'll post in alt.config to see what happened.

Seems as if there was a simple syntax error. Once I'm enabled for
control posts by my provider, I'll resend the original message but with
corrected syntax (tab not spaces).

haha good luck fellas.
We took this group from Naomi Campbell and her horde of minions, through force of arms.

But FYI "Maker of Supermodels" has been our motto for a long time now. We live by that creed, should you really be changing it?
