No, Titan is the only planet, but there is still quite a large playing
arena. I did think this would be limiting, but it isn`t really. However,
there is still the second disk, and I don`t know what this is for!?!

Yes, the game is non-linear. If you want to sit back and trade for a while,
or if you want to take on assasination missions then so be it. If you piss
the wrong people off, beware, they wont forget quickly!!

Your welcome.
I highly reccomend this game. In the full version there are many more ships
to upgrade to, a kind of storyline which unfolds, loans available, etc. etc.

No, but there is an in-game map of the various craters that make up
Misplaced Optimism.
>* And do you get to travel with the monorail ? (The service was down in the

I haven't found somewhere that offers monorail travel. Every station I
visited said that they weren't accepting "live" passengers. Sounds
like British Rail. So slow you have to be cryogenicly frozen! :-))
>* Are you able to carry passengers with the Moon moth ?
Never tried flying one to be honest. I should say no though.
>* Are the manual any good ? (I always love a good and interesting manual)
OK I suppose. It doesn't mention anything much about the map or the
radar. For instance wha the colour coding of the radar signatures
mean. There isn't much in way of comparison of the various Moths
either. From what I have found:
Silver Y: Quite slow can't carry a lot.
Moon Moth: Haven't tried this. But from the single Taxi ride I took
from my hangar to Highrise Motors to get me a shiny new Neo Tiger I'm
not impressed. Plus the Taxi driver was drunk I think. He kept
crashing into buildings!!
Neo Tiger: Cool!! Very fast and resilient. Turns on a dime and with an
Engine 3 upgrade and no cargo container can get almost 500mph!
Hawk: Supposedly better than the Tiger. Undoubtedly bigger but a fair
bit slower than the Neo Tiger, even in the same configuration. The
game and web page designate this as a good combat model but I found
it's cornering dreadful. It mentions that it's hull is stronger than
the Tiger but I prefer the extra manouverability of the Tiger and the
extra speed just in case things go wrong.
For combat nothing seems to work as well as a Plasma Kannon which
obliterates shields VERY quickly and a Laser Turret to finish off his
hull. The Kannon is quite slow firing and is best aimed at the bacxk
of your enemy but nothing works quicker. Also if your enemy has a
Laser Cannon try and stay under him. This means that you can shoot at
him but he can't shoot back since all turrets are all mounted on the
top.
Don't even think about picking a side until you have a top notch craft
with all the upgrades because you will get attacked almost every time
you enter a crater owned by an enemy. Plus it's a good idea to have
your own hangar. I have one in every crater you can own one. They cost
from $15000 and soon pay for themselves because othe people come in to
have their craft repaired. I came back to one hangar and found over
$20000 waiting for me.
The only problem I have now is that I can't seem to find a way to push
the soryline along. I have seen a couple of FMV scenes, both at the
the Prison Oubliette and that's it. I have a hunch that something
interesting is happening in the Lazarus Hightower but I stall before I
get there. That's about it. Have fun!!

Not on paper, but the map unfolds around you in the Navigator window as
you explore.
>* And do you get to travel with the monorail ? (The service was down in the

They certainly operate, but certainly in the early stages they are
unavailable to "living humans". Whether they're simply disabled from
use altogether, or whether they'll come into use later in the game, I
couldn't say.
>* Are you able to carry passengers with the Moon moth ?
Pass.
>* Are the manual any good ? (I always love a good and interesting manual)
It's a bit basic. Personally, I wouldn't let such a consideration put
me off buying a game.

No, but a map is in the game on the Navigation Screen..

Nope (seems to be a Hardwar myth this one..)

I have now got the Deaths Head. Just under 400mph. Seems about as
bulky as the Hawk but corners more like the Neo Tiger. Quite a good
ship but I still prefer the extra speed of the Tiger.

I understand that later on when nuclear power (or something) is
available to your faction you can get ships to climb higher.
I've had the problem with storyline, too. I've just been recruited by
Bob's Hangar to check out some of the radiation levels, so it _might_ be
starting to get interesting.

What day it it in your game? From memory I am on day 50 or so. You
haven't seen a Super Drone for sale anywhere have you? I'm guessing
this will allow me to pick up the weird artifacts that are laying
about. I did actually kill the two guards and the repair ship that
were hovering in the Port area. I wonder if this could have stalled
the plot. I would hate to have to start again.

I _think_ it's around day 27. I'll make a mental note when I next play
it.
Having been given the Important Task, I can't seem to find any evidence
whatsoever, so I'm heading back to Bob to see if he gives any more
clues.

No.

Er. I've not noticed any of those. Where are they, then?

Dunno what that's all about. Perhaps I'll take a trip to the Port area
;-)

Actually, I have never seen the Super Drone (wonder what that might
be). To get past that first stage, you need to follow the instructions
in the mail you got. The "unknowns" are nothing you should care about
till later. The first plot point involves shooting the mass driver
part (which is close to Mass Driver 1).
Check http://david.hedbor.org/hardwar/. I have lots of tips and tricks
for the game, including the complete walk-through (useful if you get
stuck).

Or you get get the complete map (with some spoilers on it) from my
website mentioned earlier.

I have finished the game and have never been able to take them. I
suspect that they were either disabled from the finished game for some
reason, or never enabled at all.

I never found anyone to carry...

It's pretty bad. Not worthless, but certainly not that helpful. It
doesn't tell you about any of the moths, weapons or other equipment
for example.

[Crash programs] fail because they are based on the theory that, with nine
women pregnant, you can get a baby a month.

Considering that there are "monorail" buttons in the buildings where
the monorail passes, it seems like there was an initial intention to
add that functionality. Otherwise that button shouldn't be there at
all IMHO.

Have you ever found one?

I wish it said a bit more about equipment, really.

Its fun to work this out for yourself, but I could have done with something
to read on the loo!!

Right, it's part of the fun, but also part of what made me almost
return the game. I thought battle was impossible and I died
constantly. If I had known that firing on the shields with the laser
does about as much as damage as simply looking at the moth, I wouldn't
have been as frustrated.
In any case, I like raw statistics (which others might not). :-)

User hostile.
Fair enough, but this game has given me a sense of wonder others have
failed to. I would rather have think I`d found out everything about a game,
and then discover something new. I agree a compromise would have been
better, some info - some surprises
Cheers,
Dave
