Anyone have any suggestions and reasons why? Also, who would win in a
fight between Paul and the Great Honored Matre? I think that would have
been a good match. How about Scytale and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen???

I think the it would be Gurney becuase he was one of the few that
escaped durring the attack, and plus he probaly has more experance in fighting
then duncan. Will.

I think Gurney (or Duncan, I'm not sure) mentions somewhere that Duncan
- Gurney resulted in six out of ten fights in favour of Gurney. A
pretty good match indeed. I think Gurney has the edge over Duncan
because of his deceptive looks and tricks ...

Duncan would, however, return as a ghola soon afterwards.

Gurney vs Duncan: probably duncan by a hair. close fight.
Paul vs Dama: Dama tries to kick him really quickly. paul "sees" it,
dodges. says "hold still". fight over.
Scytale vs Feyd: Scytale says "Get him, face dancers." Feyd drowns in sea
of thousands of face dancers.

No, I think Feyd would win, in a one on one fight. If you
recall, Paul saw many paths in which Feyd's blade got the best of him.

Most interesting of those questions however is one that Herbert lefts
unanswerd but hints to answer: what about Paul and Cassimir Ferning ?
And for the Honored Matres, anybody with good Bene Gesserit training can
beat them, especialy with precognition, they are not that tough when they
cannot sexualy enslave victim and I have strange feeling that paul, who
have been immune to that..
Gurney was Atreides' killer. Duncan was chief of guard and weapon master
but he was not nearly as much "on the terrain" as Gurney.

This doesnt seem right to me, one of the HMs takes out Odrade in CHD
without much of a problem. Since Odrade is a BG trained with techniques
which presumably have evolved in the few thousand years since Paul, and
since he didnt win with total ease over Feyd and would likely have lost to
Fenring, I dont think theres any question - the HMs are the business and
Paul wouldnt have had an earthly(!?)

Murbella has no problem with HMs so shes pretty near the top of the ladder
- murbella v. Miles Teg - now that would be interesting (Ali v. Frazier
level stuff)

My guess for the power ladder (for what its worth)

5th any old HM that a futar* (?) hasnt had its teeth in
4th Murbella
3rd Teg
2nd Daniel and Marty
1st FH

*futars dont count because I dont understand what the hell they are
Third come the futars (is that how its spelt) if the HMs are scared to
death of them

Gurney v. Duncan: Gurney, Duncan actually says somewhere that Gurney could
still take him seven times out of ten (or something like that).

Paul v. Great Honored Matre: Paul, he has the Voice while the HM has
something close to it.

Scytale v. Feyd-Rautha: Which Scytale? There were at least two. The
Scytale who tried to ambush Paul in Dune Messiah probably would lose, but
the Scytale in Chapterhouse has all the improvements of Tleilaxu gene
manipulation on his side.

How about a fight between Miles Teg and Gurney Halleck?

I'm thinking that a Miles Teg vs. Gurney Halleck fight would see Teg as
the winner. Reasons?: Gurney is the best of his time but so is Teg and Teg
has the benefit of genetic improvements over thousands of years. This is
especially so if Teg has gone through the "T-Probe Incident" in Heretics
of Dune.

Not to be bashing on your topic here, you have your rights, but isn't the
intelligence of the topic reflected in the Subject: Re:Who wULd... not Who
would...

Definitely Teg. I had forgotten about him. He was Sardaukar, was he not?

Hey, buddy. I'm mortal. I make spelling mistakes. If you were
intelligent, you'd realize that brilliance and common everyday skills (such
as tieing shoes) have nothing to do with each other. I hate to bring up
something so cliche, but take Einstein for example. Oh, and try not to
call the kettle black too often, huh? "Serated" is spelled serrated. Two
'R's, pal. Think about it, huh, Remus?
