Since it's the traditional month for arriving on Usenet, I thought I'd
take the plunge and make my first post. Greetings to all. I've been
lurking here for a few months now, and will probably disappear again
shortly after this, but hey, so it goes with me.

I would give a description here, but I'm truly awful at describing
myself, and anyway, much of it is due to change without notice.

Now then... who wants cake? I make one of my abodes practically next to
about five bakeries!

Welcome, I'm your senior by around 10 hours here. Which is, sadly to
say, not very much. :)

I don't mind cake. Is it a lie? (Internet meme FTW)

The Cake Is As Real As You Want It To Be, in this case.
So if you think it's a lie, then yes, it is. Otherwise, it's just
tasty. Here, try.

Ohohoh, now we're talking. How do you achieve the Doom, or is it a
secret recipe? If it is, would you consider handing it over in exchange
for, say, some crystallised forces? I can supply most kinds.

Both "wicked" and "doom" come from the fact that it's addictingly good
("doom" is a bit of an exaggeration, but it's just fun to stick "of
Doom" on the end of something). As the lady I got the recipe from is
fond of saying, if you don't like someone, they only get ONE piece. :P

No, the recipe is not secret. In fact, I enjoy sharing it, and posted
it elsewhere on the site. But, in the interest of laziness, I'll put it
here too:

Many many many many many many thanks.
And "of Doom" may not be an exaggeration by the time I'm done with it...

Reminds me that I have a "cocolate cake in a coffee cup" recipie around
somewhere.

(also that wiki page has a footnote indicator about the riots and no
footnote).

Went and dug it up.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix
thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again..
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts..
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT ! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any
time of the day or night!

Good to know it works! I've been meaning to actually whip some 1
serving cake up, but haven't ever gotten around to it.

Hmm...I wonder if I can extrpolate a 1 serving frosting recipie?
(Mix powdered sugar, butter, and milk in a tablespoon....)

*Breaks out the Joy of Cooking*
Quick White Icing (1/8th recipie attempt)
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
3/8 tablespoon hot heavy cream
3/8 to 1/2 tablespoon milk, dry sherry, rum, or coffee
1/8 teaspoon vanilla
a tiny amount of salt (1/64th of a teaspoon--"half a pinch" is probably
enough)

Mix the sugar, butter, and heavy cream in a cup. Add the milk (dry
sherry, rum, or coffee), vanilla and salt, and beat until smooth.
Correct consistency if necessary by adding small amounts of powdered
sugar or liquid of choice.

According to the initial recipie, that should make about 1/8th of a cup
of frosting, which is probably more than enough to coat our 1 serving
cake.
