Has anyone else played this game? I just installed a copy, and I'm
really enjoying it. It's a point-and-click adventure game with a science
fiction theme.

Sadly, mine no longer work..... I bought all 3 together as a bundle (I
think it was an anniversary edition or something) and none of the would
run..... And, sadly, Riven wouldn't even uninstall..... And right now,
I don't even know where the discs are.....

Sounds like the 10th anniversary edition. I bought that too, and had
troubles with the Riven disk. I played through Riven using an older copy
on several CDs, as opposed to one DVD.

I bought them all at bargain bin prices.

And you know there are 5, right?
Myst
Riven
Myst III: Exile
Myst IV: Revelation
Myst V: End of Ages

And technically also:
Uru: Ages Beyond Myst (To D'ni & The Path of the Shell)
Myst Online: Uru Live
(As far as I can tell, Myst Online: Uru Live is a resurection of the MMO
portion of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst aka "Uru Live")

I needed a walkthrough for all of them. But I bought them for the
story--paid about the same amount as a paperback--so I was fine doing
so.

Well, now knowing the end to Myst, all you need to do is get the last
page and go to D'ni to win, so it's much less challenging..... But the
story of the Ages, and especially the Age of sound (I forget which one
it is, but it's the one where you have to tune in all the sounds to open
the door) and how they got all the sounds is a great story.....

Oh I didn't cheat, I did all the side questy bits, even though they're
unneccessary.

And the sound level is one I had a hard time with, even WITH the

simplest and most direct way of getting it working on a modern

Played through it this evening. Very nice game, although the middle
portion gave me some trouble (thankfully the copy downloadable from
GOG.com comes with a walkthrough) as there was little or no indication
of how to proceed (I had to beat the game before I figured out the point
of the fingerprint machine).

Beneath a Steel Sky was made in 1994, so it's not exactly a new computer
game :)
It was originally commercial, and was released as freeware in 2003.
