Family Portrait: Cypherwulf speaks!

dragons to hear and says, "I've been thinking and when I've been thinkin
only one things like thinkin and thats thinkin!"
Cypherwulf coughs and continues "er....um..anyway, I've been a little lost
for inspiration for my drawings lately. I just can't think of what to draw.
So through a little thinkin, I know now what I must think....er, do. I want
to do a picture of every active member of AFD. I am going to do a poster and
want everyone to be a part of it. Now, all I need in return is a very well
detailed description of yourself, in order from head to tail. I will try to
make it look like you but if you leave something out, I will draw it as it
suits me(so don't just say 'I'm a green westerndragon'!). Also, it would be
nice if you told me how you want to be posing, skiing, yawning, flaming a
troll, scratching your butt, whatever. And do you want to be in a specific
setting? I'm going to draw a little background but if everyone can agree on
a good setting then I will try to integrate a more detailed one into the
picture. This is going to take a lot of work and I will need time and
everyones cooperation if it is to look anything how I envision it. Thank you
for your time."

'Tain't a bad idea. Of course, wouldn't you KNOW I erased the ultra-
detailed description of meself I'd made in case this sort of thing
happened. Only a few days ago, too. I'll have to make another one
now... *Sigh*
Mind you, though, there's already an AFD Family Portrait. It's not all
done by one artist; rather, it's a whole bunch of different pictures by
different artists, glued to a background. And it doesn't include
everyone yet (me or Sarath, f'r instance, although it will next month).
Is this going to be updated on a semi-regular basis once it's complete?
Y'know, to include new folks and such?

ohhh, this is tough, all I picture is a glowing red firedrake, maybe a
shapeshifter. Gotta think about this some. Don't be mad if it doesn't look

Well, I don't know about Lothaekor (my partner in crime on the
existing Portrait), but that's fine by me. Be a good chance to get
myself drawn by someone else! Now to go write up a descrip...

That's a problem I came up against too... the setting for the Portrait
is very simple, basically just blocks of colour to suggest grass and
the sky, since most of it never gets seen anyway...

Well the AFD Portrait was your brain child, so I leave things like
this up to your decision. I think it's a nice idea.

Hmm. I think this is very much like the Portrait Hespa is maintaining.
And I don't want anyone else to try drawing me - only I know, what my
dragon form look like, and even I don't see it too clearly. So no, I
would not like to be in this portrait of yours, sowwy...
But Hespa. If I ever get my picture done, I'll send it to the Portrait!
Is it bad, if the pic's b&w - I can't color anything with computer, and
I imagine that coloring me would be a bit hard for anyone: silver with
blue iridescence (my DC is out of date, I'll update it soon).

Yep, I already drew a pic of myself. Which will hopefully be uploaded

Cool idea, in an ... unoriginal kinda way :) Nah, it's ok if you want to do
it your way.
Count me in, I am really anything at all, (shapeshifter) although generally
I am a pale blue-skinned black-haired yellow-eyed humanoid in a pale pinky
purple iridescent top with a black skirt, purplish scaly claws for feet and
hands, black talons, small red horns, two pairs of wings (one angel pair,
one red dragon pair).
That detailed enough for ya?

As already said, the idea resembles to AFD Portrait, but since you're
doing all the pictures, it makes it noticeably different. This sounds
like a very ambitious project. However, it can be a good filler for free
time, if you happen to have much of this precious rare substance... In
this case, I envy you ];=8)
Oh, and as for my description... I don't have a detailed one ready, but
I guess I could find the time to write one pretty soon. E-mail would be
best for this.

includes the bones of my wings. My flaps of my wings, you know, what we use to
fly, and totally white. My eyes are a sky blue, and my tail has a small diamond
skin shape on it which is white, if you know what i mean. My wings are like a
bats wings, but i don't have the finger like bones, i have a bone that is only
on the top, or to make it easier, leads from my back, to the end of my wing, no
finger like bones under it, and my wings are single, not double. I have 3
fingers on each paw front and hind. My belly and bottom tail have a white patch
just going from top of chest, to the tip of my tail. I have a long lead of hair,
which starts at the top of my head, and goes down to half way on my back, which
is black hair. I have cat like ears, which usually hang back, like a cat that is
sad, or scared, and the tips of those are white. I hope it helps^.^

Well, a few dragons say I'm stealing the idea from it. Yes, I am taking the
basic idea but the difference being that only I am drawing them. This is
something I'm doing to test my skills and patience in my art.

I have little free time to do my own art from doing commissions for all my
friends. This is going to be a big project, it may take me a long time. I'm
already on my way though, I have sketched out the first dragon (which
happens to be Shadowing). I will fit in about two dragons per sheet (the
paper is big) so it will be very detailed. I know everyone is going to like
it but I'm wondering how I'm going to get it scanned properly.

Okay....."
I'm a aquamarine-blue, western dragon. I'm covered with scales, with a
dull white underside and golden eyes. I have white talons. Up and down
my spine is these thin fringes of membrane tissue that fade from
aquamarine to silver(I have a sliver of the stuff falling between my
eyes). It stand the highest on the top of my head to mid-neck, about 9
inches. It gradually gets smaller til mid-tail at 2 inches. They are
fringes, so it's not all connected in one mesh (look in a dictionary ;-P
). The end of my tai is forkd, with a silver fringe on it. Instead of
horns, I have two harden, skin flaps that stick up somewhat. Think of
traditional horns, the flaps go up the same way, except not so high
(they're only a little bit taller than the fringe on my head). They're
almost like a crest, except very different^.^ Got any questions, just
ask. I tried to detail myself good. Pose? Hm, standing with my arms
crossed over my chest. A side profile, wings folded. That's it, I think.

Well, I'm a light green bipedal dragoness, about 6 feet tall. Horse-looking
(but smaller) ears. Grey cat-slit eyes. Wing membranes a shade lighter green
than the scales. Rather long pointed tail...4 fingers (1 thumb) on each hand, 3
front toes and one back on each foot. Ivory talons on each toe and finger. A
silver necklace with a black stone on it around my neck...other than that,

Shyriath is approximately twelve feet long from snout tip to tail tip,
with a twenty-six foot wingspan. His tail makes up about five feet of
his total length, his body makes up about four feet, his neck about one-
and-three-quarters feet, and his head about one-and-one-quarter feet
(the antennae are not included in this measurement). He stands on two
legs, although he is capable of running on all fours. His legs are a
bit longer than four feet, and his arms are about the same length.
Shyriath is mostly covered by a layer of very small scales, which
cannot be seen on his body at any great distance. They are green in
color, but so pale a green as to be almost white; under extreme stress
or sickness, they gain a gray tinge. There are numerous spots where
scales have grown in irregularly, and there is a very slight yet very
steady rain of dead scales coming off his body after they fall out.
In some spots, there are large, irregularly shaped black blotches,
resembling burn marks; they are all on the left side of his body. The
most notable are those at the tip of his tail, on his left foot, on his
hip joint, and the very large one that exactly covers the left side of
his head and face, and which extends down his neck to his left
shoulder. These blotches, on close inspection, are not merely
discoloration of the scales, but rather appears to have replaced the
scales that should be there, as if it were a growth.
Shyriath’s arms are abnormally formed. From the shoulder to the wrist,
they are relatively normal, but the section of the hands between the
wrist and the knuckles connecting the fingers to the hand is highly
elongated, making it almost as long as the section between the shoulder
and elbow. The fingers, at the end of this elongated section, are
approximately normally sized, although slightly long and dexterous, and
tipped with claws. There are three fingers per hand, and one of each
three is an opposable thumb.
The upper surfaces of the wings have the scales present on the rest of
the body, but the undersides are leathery and pale yellow. The
wingbones are structures similarly to the armbones… that is, the
section between “shoulder” and “wrist” is normal but there is an extra
section between the “wrist” and the area from where the “fingers”
sprout. There are three “fingers”; one is a vestigial clawed thumb,
very short and nearly useless; one of the remaining two “fingers” forms
the outer edge of the wing sail, while the other supports the sail in
the middle.
The legs, like the legs of quadrupeds (such as horses, cats, etc.),
come in sections that are roughly analogous to the sections of this
arms and wings. There is a thigh section, from hip to “knee”,
from “knee” to “ankle”, and from “ankle” to the toe knuckles. There are
two toes per foot, each one tipped with a claw. There is also a claw
(all that remains of a vestigial third backward toe) on the back of
each leg, just above the toe knuckles on the bottommost section.
Shyriath is very, very thin and bony over most of his body surface.
Many bones stick out visibly, such as the hips and ribs; his head and
face have been described as resembling a bare skull. Shyriath has
little muscle, just barely enough to allow him to move normally; most
of his muscle mass is concentrated in his chest and wings, so that he
is capable of flight. His left arm and leg have even less muscle than
their counterparts on the right… so much so, in fact, that they are
little more than bones wrapped in scales. His left wing, however, does
not suffer from this.
Shyriath’s head and face, as mentioned before, are skull-like. The back
of the skull is rounded, and the spine connects more to the underside
of it, as in a human, rather than having a flatter skull with the spine
connecting to the back, as in many other dragons. Shyriath’s eyes
resemble large jewels set into the sides of his head; they are large,
round, and multifaceted. They also glow continually, although they dim
when Shyriath is low on energy. Normally blue in color, they can change
hue when Shyriath is in one of various emotional states. There are
slight bags under the eyes. Shyriath’s snout takes up about half the
length of the head, and is broad. His upper “lip” ends in a point. The
mouth is filled with small, conical teeth. At the junction of snout and
forehead, there begins a strange, antenna-like organ on each side of
the head; each one starts just in front of an eye. It curves up and
over the eye, then extends back to the temple, where it diverges from
the rest of the head and sweeps back and up above the head, ending in a
point. These antennae are not covered in scales, but instead in hide.
They have the texture of foam rubber, and are pliant and flexible.
I'm also including this URL, which goes to the picture which I consider
to be my standard at the moment... that is, it's more or less how I see
me, although it's not as detailed as I'd like. If there's a discrepancy
between the description and the picture, go with the picture as more
accurate (except for the measurements at the beginning, which should be
used no matter what).

Sarath:
Sarath is about four feet long, with a wingspan of about eight feet.
Her tail makes up about two feet of her total length, her body makes up
about one-and-one-quarter, her neck four inches, and her head about
five inches (the antennae and dorsal fin are not included in this
measurement). She stands on two legs, although she is capable of
running on all fours. Her legs are about one-and-one-quarter feet long,
and her arms are about one foot long.
Sarath is covered mainly by scales. Like her father, her scales are
small, so small that they resemble hide from any great distance.
However, unlike Shyriath, these scales are a deep green, almost the
color of a fine emerald. They are also healthier than Shyriath’s, for
they have grown in regularly, and are not shed except at normal stages
in her life cycle.
She also bears marks on her head and neck. These have the same origin
as the black, irregular marks on Shyriath, but Sarath’s marks are very
different. While Shyriath’s are black and give the visual appearance of
charred flesh, these are a bright red. The black ones seem to cover he
scales like a growth, but these red ones seem to be a coloration of the
scales. Shyriath’s marks are irregular blotches, but Sarath’s red ones
are fairly geometric, for their edges are usually either gentle,
uninterrupted curves or (sometimes) straight lines. Also, these marks
occur in a pattern, reminiscent of flames, that seems to flow from the
tip of her snout, around her eyes, over the upper half of her head, and
down the back of her neck, ending at the shoulders. The pattern is
symmetrical (it is the same on her left side as on her right).
Running down Sarath’s back is a series of golden spines, supporting
between them what appears to be some sort of dorsal fin, purple in
color. The first spine, starting from the top of the head, above the
eyes, is longest, and the spines become progressively shorter as the go
toward the back. Running along her backbone, between her wings, they
finally stop at around the base of her tail, where it joins to the rest
of the body. These last spines, the shortest, are little more than
stubs, and the purple fin they support is nearly invisible.
At the end of the tail is another fin-like structure. This is somewhat
fan-shaped, supported by the tail in its center, and by a pair of
spines to either side of the tail. The spines are gold and curving. The
fin itself is purple.
Sarath has a pair of forelimbs, a pair of legs, and a pair of wings.
Unlike Shyriath, Sarath’s arms and wings come in a more normal
structure. There is an upper arm, a lower arm, and an averagely-
structured arm. The hand’s have three fingers each, and one of each
three is an opposable thumb. Between the fingers is purple webbing. The
fingers tend to be elongated, noticeably more so than Shyriath’s.
Sarath’s wings are covered with green scales on the upper surface, but
with leathery purple hide on the lower surface. The wing has
three “fingers”; one is a vestigial thumb, very short and without
practical use, while the other two, which lack claws, support the
wingsails.
The legs, like the legs of quadrupeds (such as horses, cats, etc.),
come in sections that are roughly analogous to the sections of the arms
and wings. There is a thigh section, from hip to “knee”, from “knee”
to “ankle”, and from “ankle” to the toe knuckles. There are two toes
per foot, each one tipped with a claw; between these two toes, which
are slightly elongated, is purple webbing. There is also a claw (all
that remains of a vestigial third backward toe) on the back of each
leg, just above the toe knuckles on the bottommost section.
All Sarath’s claws are silver.
Sarath is much sturdier in physical form than Shyriath, despite her
size and age. Not affected by the muscular atrophy that plagues her
father, she is strong enough for her size, although not so much bulky
as wiry.
She has the same sort of antennae as her father, although these are
silver, and the same general face structure, although the snout is
comparatively longer and pore pointed. Her eyes are gold.

Nale is about three feet long, with a wingspan of about five feet. Her
